Description

well I was going to make a giveaway for this game anyway but this is a good opportunity. I don't want to be known as that girl who shares all her personal stories so I don't want to put it in the forum, but this story is CRAZY so here it is!

So my sister is driving with me in the car and we are heading to her house (around 3am) and out of NOWHERE this huge pickup truck hits the side of our car and sends us spinning all the way across the street. The man driving the truck was speeding and turning on the wrong side of the road. Luckily, it was late and there was no traffic to further hit us. Even more luckily, a police officer was at the light and witnessed the whole thing.

The police officer told us that once the adrenaline started to fade we should report our injuries (Because adrenaline is pretty amazing at masking any pain and injury you have.) So we are freaked out, and had to call our dad to come pick us up. The accident was actually so bad that they blocked off the entire street.

Turns out, the man was speeding and going down the wrong side of the road because he had a passenger in his car that had been stabbed and he was rushing to the hospital. That really puts in perspective how fast he was going when he hit us, since he was trying to save his friend's life. I know that the man who hit us is okay (I saw him walking around afterwards) but I don't know if the passenger in his car was okay. I really hope they were. He was in the wrong, but he wasnt drinking, he was just trying to help his friend.

I live a pretty normal and boring life let me tell you. This past year more craziness has happened to me then in a life time. I forgot to add that my sister and I are okay. We are very sore and my sister has some cuts and bruises, but the entire car was caved in on the side, and we are very happy to be okay! If you are looking to buy a car, or switch over to another car, make sure that safety is something you really take into consideration! Yeah, its good if a car looks nice, has nice mileage, etc etc, but at the end of the day, your life means more then showing off your car :) I know nothing about cars AT ALL so this is not an advertisement, but my sister had a Toyota Camry, which literally saved her life with it's side airbags and durability.

Long story short, that was REALLY FREAKY and I just had to share but everyone is okay! (hopefully on both sides of the accident). This is definitely not a story to bring down the mood i just couldn't be happier that we were so lucky!

That's pretty damn scary LOL. I've never experienced something as serious as that. I'm glad everyone in your side is okay! I just hope the other passenger made it alright, but the police WAS there, so I'm sure it worked out well for them. Good that you have a story to tell your friends about now at least! I do hope your car had insurance... Stay safe out there!

Yeah my sister has car insurance, and because a policeman witnessed it, there was no extensive questioning, and that guy was all to blame. But yeah, hopefully the passenger was okay, but luckily we crashed in front of the hospital so theres a good chance for them.

You stay safe too!

WOW! Glad you are OK! The only thing I have experienced remotely close to that is when I almost drowned in a swing pool when I was a kid.

I also don't know shit about cars. People are crazy about cars in my country. No really, people here don't buy cars because they need them but because it is a status symbol! I am a really Eco-friendly guy, and whenever I go meet my extended family, they will ask me why I don't have a two wheeler. They think I won't be a MANLY MAN until i don't own a vehicle. And I am like, I'd rather clear my entire Steam Wishlist and become a lvl 10 SG user, replace cg, and run the world then get a vehicle I don't even need.

I completely derailed there. Anyway glad you are OK!

Wow, not sure if actually lucky or not. I'm just glad that the truck driver was trying to do the right thing and wasn't even drinking.

yeah I wish it didn't happen, but the amount of luck on our side was good! I'm also glad he was doing the right thing. I would be very angry if he was drinking, but since he was in panic mode and not intoxicated, I can sympathize with why he did it.

Thankfully Toyotas can be sturdy. Still driving a 98' Corolla. 18 years and going and if it's up to me, i won't mind if it lasts 18 more. ;)

I was amazed on how sturdy! I know nothing about cars but the way that one got hit, its amazing how well it functioned. Plus the side airbags saved my sister from a broken arm or worse

Those picture of the car are crazy, you and your sister are very lucky. I'm really happy you are both Ok, it put things in perspective when something like that happen to you, thankfully it seems like everything ending up ok, but it must make you think of all the what if...
Thanks for sharing this, and don't worry about sharing personnal stories, I for one enjoy reading them. Actually for this story I don't think enjoy is the right word to use... Stay safe <3

thanks :) yeah the "what ifs" have been running through my mind. Thats why even though its not a good situation, I feel personally lucky. What if we had a bad unsafe car? What if the cop wasnt there to help? What if there were more people in the car? (there almost was), etc etc. Luckily, everything turned out great compared to what could be :)

thanks for reassuring me, sometimes feel like I get to personal with stories, but how can you not share something like this! lol

Oh my >.< What a terrible experience. I was hit by a car once when I was on my way to school, on my bike, but that wasn't nearly as bad as your accident. Still, I can relate to it, it's real shocking when something suddenly hits you.
I'm glad to hear that you and your sister are okay and your car had side airbags. Hopefully, the injured man made it in time to the hospital as well.
Take care of you ^^

I'm very glad to hear that you and your sister are okay. I deal with similar situations daily, but it's always nice to read about ones that have a relatively happy ending. Take care out there.

I'm assuming at your job? If so what do you do? Thanks :)

You assume correctly. I am a 911 operator. The most difficult part about my job is that for 99% of the calls I take, I don't know what the final result is. The only time I do is if I happen to later talk to one of the personnel who was on scene. I'm not fishing for praise or thanks here, so please, none of that. I just love what I do and being able to help people. My wife loves it even more because it satisfies my need to help without me being out in the field in physical danger. :) Long story short, I'm glad you are both okay and I hope you never have need of the services of myself or someone like me.

wow thats pretty cool. I often wondered if 911 operators got an update on the situation, so it sucks to know your left wondering.

Also you may not want a thank you, but I'm giving you one anyway, because most people don't think about the 911 operator and a lot of good work you do goes unnoticed. So thanks for helping keep people safe :)

Adrenaline is a blessing and a curse. You might have gotten internal bleeding, and you would never know it, until you fade out face first in the floor.

If you ever have an accident, DON'T IGNORE IT! DON'T TRY TO WALK IT OUT! CALL 911 OR GO TO THE NEAREST HOSPITAL, IF THERE'S ONE NEARBY!

It will save your life if you do have injuries that could be compromising if left alone for a prolonged period of time!

I'm glad you guys got almost unscathed from that accident... Good thing material property can be replaced, but a life is something really valuable...

I hope you have a nice day and everything about your car is resolved! :)

YES this is a great point. We actually did wait because it was very late and we felt fine but a couple days ago we went to the doctor and found out that I had a small back issue and she had some shoulder and back issues. Nothing that bad but it could have been worse without us even knowing.
I had a friend who's dad had a messed up spine and didn't know until years after his car accident. These injuries can mask themselves for weeks or even years and its not worth waiting for that possibility. A lot of times to (like in our case) if the other party is at fault, their insurance will cover your doctors bill if you go right away. Thanks for mentioning this since I forgot to!

Glad to hear you're all ok after that. Doubly so since the other driver wasn't an irresponsible drunkard. My thoughts go out to all of you

Unfortunately, I've had another car crash into mine at 50 mph and I can tell it's not a fun experience. As for choosing a car according to passenger safety, i'm afraid it's not always an option. Affordability usually defines the list of available options and the cheaper cars tend to be on the wrong side of the safety fence.

If you're wondering, I still have the same car. I hope you'll get a chance to replace yours.
