Bourg-Saint-Andéol / La Caverne du Pont-d'Arc

Stage 13 - Friday, July 15th - 37.5 km

< Stage 12 - Stage 14 >

The Stage

Today is the first of two time trials in this year's Tour. The general classification will get mixed up a lot today but with quite a lot still to come nothing is certain yet.

Tom Dumoulin might have a chance at something quite special today. If he's still close in time to the yellow jersey he might be able to win today's time trial and the jersey. If he does, he will have won a stage and the leader's jersey in all three of the grand tours (Giro, Tour de France, and Vuelta) in one year's time. A record currently only held by Eddy Merckx, Freddy Maertens, and Bernard Hinault. The Olympic Games this year are his main target however, so we'll have to see how he does the first week.

Other contenders today are Tony Martin and Rohan Dennis. The terrain isn't quite suited to Fabian Cancellara but I hope to see Spartacus high up in the results today.

Winner: Tom Dumoulin strikes again!!!

Tour Touristique

The Pont d'Arc (French pont = bridge) is a large natural bridge, located in the Ardèche département. The arch, carved out by the Ardèche River, is 60 m wide and 54 m high. It is a very popular canoeing and kayaking area and is heavily visited by tourists. It is usually described as the natural entrance to the Ardèche Canyon.

Seriously, though, can I just guess Chris Froome for every stage? I'm sure he'll win at least one
