Description

When i was designing this puzzle I thought I had a copy of Shadow Warrior to give away, but I couldn't find it so I decided to give away this instead

Thanks for the puzzle!

Well done. Was everything coming out as garbage earlier due to some symbols being upsidedown?

No, some symbols seemed to be wrong, two of them numerically by one and a third by a different amount.

This could either be errors in the code, or it's some extra layer in the puzzle which I completely missed. I thought maybe the inner circle has something to do with it, couldn't figure it out.

In the end, the relevant part was error free, otherwise I might have tried varying the numbers by one (so like the first two errors I came across.)

Known error positions:

  • 1st set, 2nd last symbol (decrease by one)
  • 2nd set, 1st symbol (decrease by one)
  • 5th set, 4th or 5th symbol (Decreasing a single one didn't work.)

I'll check my notes this evening. I did transcribe everything by hand so I may have made errors but I did one sanity check before posting and didn't catch those. I did find two other errors I did correct.

Ah it is true, thankfully the badly encoded characters are parts of the URL that are easy enough to fix. I will make a note in the thread about it,but I don't think I'll fix anything.

Thanks for the puzzle! (I know the puzzle is octal but I'm not sure the way of converting symbols to octal, just use the method of substitution to solve it.)
䷚ is 32, ䷆ is 07, etc.

OK I don't know if I can explore everything properly but I will try...

A large part of Daoism can actually be summarized in four short lines, or one even shorter sequence: 0 => 1 => 2 => 4 => 8 => 64

From zero comes one – From the Infinite (Wuji) comes the Supreme (Taiji)

From one comes two – From the Supreme (Taiji) comes the Duality (Liangyi) of Yin and Yang.

From two comes four – From the Duality (Liangyi) comes the Four Phases (Sixiang).

And the four are expressed through the eight – The Four Phases (Sixiang) are expressed by the Eight Trigrams (Bagua), and when the Bagua are combined with each other, they form 64 hexagrams that represent everything in the world.

So basically zero is the background which you can imagine goes on infinitely
One is the circle, the entirety of the drawing
Two is the black and the white. Two colors
Four is the yin yang symbol with Twp large black and white symbol which contain a smaller black and white dots, making four pieces of the ying yang
Eight is the eight Trigrams that surround the ying yang symbol
Sixty four is the outer ring of hexagrams, which I used to encode the URL

So tldr it wasn't encoded in octal but in base 64

Oh, I see, so the puzzle wasn't designed to be octal, thanks for the explanation.
