Out of curiosity, as it has never been my thing personally... what do people like about the jump scare genre/trend in low-rent games?

I hate that it's a trend or genre, since of the dozens of copycats on steam none have actually bothered to improve or iterate on Cawthon's formula, but I digress... I like that it can produce suspense and tension in seconds or minutes, like arcade horror for those who want to feel but don't have time to bother with pesky atmosphere/story/character/world building.

I appreciate both the honest response, and use of full sentences. Whitelist status for you. =)

Jump scares are basic fear-producing mechanisms. The simplest of all forms of fear and surprise. It causes a feeling of anticipation and dread which intensifies the feeling. Sometimes the most simple ideas can be the most effective. This series in particular has been very popular. Thanks for sharing this giveaway with us :)

Thank you for replying to my question, it's good to hear from people who appreciate this type of game, and the franchise in question. I hope the game goes to someone who will enjoy it, so good luck.

If you let me, I think is a simple but functional formula, and like a lot of games, everyone can play and enjoy them. I don't like a "terror game" based just on Jump Scares, but the formula of FNAF is quite good. Just check, check, check and hide/avoid. Constantly you feel a vulnerability and if you don't take care for some seconds, you can lose the night. Also, it has an interesting back ground story. It also took my attention because I love the stories that do not get the main reflector, but of course they can offer mistery and theory. Is so interesting, and it can call a fandom. Not the best game if we talk about terror, but is an original formula and history. Not fan of them, but is a good movement for an indie guy.

Thank you for your answer to my question, I'm glad to hear that there are users who genuinely feel drawn in and appreciate this genre. I'm hoping the game goes to a good home with someone who will be entertained by it. Good luck.

I think it's about the kick. No other genre demands your fear as terrific as this kind of horror games. Are you going to be frightened or do you see it coming? Older horror films still play with this kind of jumpscare, it's nothing new, but still a challenge. I've been way in the horror genre for years, but at CASE: Animatronics I've swept my coffee cup off the table.. x'D
