I don't know if they ever fixed it but it used to be that even after cancelling your subscription you still retained all the benefits. I subscribed for a month in October 2014 just to get Endless Legend and immediately unsubscribed and still have all the site benefits as well as all the free games.
In fact they claimed to have fixed it at least once before I even subscribed but that clearly wasn't the case.

They did fix it. I tried same technique months ago, and as soon as my subscription ended, they declined access to a prime section + redirection to payment plan page when I tried to Get Key from any game page with their giveaway to Prime members. Not sure if I was the only one, but I would be happy to hear if someone else tried it this year and what was the result.

I can confirm that this is a lie.
Tried the Humble Activation link and in the end(today) got the key, that was activated successfully.
Don't know what was the reason to lie about keys having activation period...

I can post a photo(if needed) that proves that I am not lying(though I will blur the key). I think someone gave you a Humble Bundle link from the free giveaway - this is not the same link that is given through the IGN PRIME.

They sometimes go for months at a time without adding anew game. The games are more of a bonus for subscribers than they are an incentive to subscribe. People have complaints every time an IGN Prime thread goes up which is why I made sure to maike it as such rather than a [Free].
