☼ ☀ Summer Games Done Quick ☀☼

Quick like a bundle! Games Done Quick is a charity video game marathon featuring high-level play by speedrunners -- gamers who play games as fast as possible! These talented individuals run events twice a year and take donations that are sent directly to charity. This summer, they’ll be streaming over 150 hours of non-stop gameplay live to benefit Doctors Without Borders!

100% goes to charity - All contributions to this bundle will support Doctors Without Borders

100% goes to charity. All of the games in this bundle were donated by the developers so that the proceeds can all go to support charity! Our featured charity, Doctors Without Borders -- or Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) -- is an international, independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters, and exclusion from health care in nearly 70 countries. If you'd like, you can also choose a second charity of your choice via the PayPal Giving Fund! For details on how this works, click here. (NOTE: Doctors Without Borders does not endorse, condone, or control the content of the games.)

if they buy expensive games for the bundle, so you all guys don't complain, there's probably not much money left for charity in the end...

They are good games, they are old though and were already bundled multiple times.

There's honestly no way to actually justify that price tag. Charity? eh... You do way more by donating one of your days as a volunteer (heck, even a couple hours) than donating to some organization.

lol 15 dollars for a bunch of games which have been bundled to death and have been part of 1 dollar tiers... ouch... more like Summer games gone greedy... if you're going to charge 15, atleast have one non bundled game in the batch.. oh well..

Hold up, a charity event is greedy for not giving you a non bundled game for a donation? Oh, the irony.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The greedy part was my attempt at humor...

Most people who visit Humble aren't doing so because they want to donate to charity, I can donate to charity if I want too without using their site... Most people go to buy games, when you're offering up a bunch of games which have been bundled to death at a price point that is higher than most people are willing to pay...

I know and I don't claim to be some white knight here either. I just have deep respect for the Games Done Quick event and offering free games for a donation is pretty generous already, considering you don't get anything for a donation usually. Also Humble Bundle spöits the money between devs, charity and their own company if you don't adjust the sliders while buying. So this bundle being 100% for charity eight off the bat is nice too.
And I think that's the point. This bundle is really just for people who want to support the cause and not to get a good deal.

I gotcha, but as I said, people aren't really going to HB to donate to charity, sure the site does donate to charity, but the average person going to Humble will see that bundle and say.. meh I ain't buying that crap..

If they really wanted to get some money for charity they would have found a non bundled game to include so atleast some people on the fence would have taken the plunge because they would have bought so and so a game at some point anyway. Now it's just a bunch of old bundled to death games that have all been in dollar tiers..

Plus like I said, anyone who seriously wants to donate to charity doesn't use Humble Bundle to do so...

Yeah, but try to convince a dev or publisher to give up on tens of thousands of potential sales for charity. Having games that already had their peak of what they can achieve financially is the most reasonable for the side of the devs. Plus if it was non-bundled it would probably end up on the grey market as well and as a dev you'd be in financial ruin. So having a non-bundled game in their is far away from being realistic.

I'm not trying to argue, I just felt like I have better things to do with my 15 dollars than buy that bundle..

I donate thousands of dollars each year to my local police and firemen charities.. I've given countless hundreds of dollars to various foundations for feeding the hungry, homeless shelters and woman's abuse clinics/shelters.. If I want to make an off handed joke about HB being greedy I don't see the harm.. As I said the people on this site aren't looking to donate to charity but find deals on video games..

the average person going to Humble will see that bundle and say.. meh I ain't buying that crap..

this forum (full of people who always look for the best possible deal) does not necessarily represent the average. there are lots of people who don't know any bundle sites except HiB, and who don't have a shit ton of games on their accounts. many people don't have those games yet, and they don't care if it was already bundled (which to us means they are worth a few cents, to others it doesn't mean that). i bet you there are enough people who will think it's nice to get some free (and really good) games for a donation.

Plus like I said, anyone who seriously wants to donate to charity doesn't use Humble Bundle to do so...

you don't do events like this to reach the people who donate anyway. you do it to reach the rest. the people who don't usually donate. and those will probably respond well to motivation like this.

I understand why they are doing the bundle, I'm not saying it's a bad idea, just putting in my two cents, thought it would be whats the word facetious, I guess I should have used better judgement,

And we see it in it's sales, only 2,883 sold at this time.

I would argue, if this 'charity drive' was an actual bundle, with tiers, and competitive prices, they would get upwards of 500x the money, sure it would be split between the charity/humble/devs, but the charity would still end up getting more $$$ after the split (split based on default, users can still manually adjust where the money goes if they are inclined)

Well, several humble bundles sold over a million bundles, that ea one sold something like 2 million bundles right?
So 500x 3,000 = 1.5 million, which we have seen, is a possibility.

I was about to say that I agree and I admit that I must've been wrong, but all I can find on Google are what the total revenue of each bundle is, whereas the AGDQ 2015 bundle for example is listed with 0.00$ revenue. So considering they list 1.5 million for others I'm not sure if it's actually that much being raised to charity. If you can find any specific number of how much money going to charity, devs and humble etc then please show them. I can't find any. However the AGDQ 2015 bundle raised 200.000$ according to wiki. Don't know how that stacks up against normal sold bundles.

I said, bundles sold, not $ in sales.
$1.5 million doesn't neceisarily mean 1.5 million bundles sold, and vice verca.

I was just pointing out, several humble bundles, sold over a million bundles (not sure what the $ was, nor their split).
So this current SGDQ selling under 3,000 compared to those bundles that sold hundreds of thousands of bundles... it just points out their tier/pricing is a little off, as they could definatlly pull in more $ for their charity even if they use the default charity split of 15%.

Hell, 100,000 bundles sold can be easily reached. Still more then likely, netting the charity more $.

Just saying. :D :D

Know what, why not have tiers and still have 100% goto charity? then it would without doubt pull in more $.

Well, but I said $ in sales. I was looking up numbers, so I could figure out if your theory made any sense. I still have my doubts. Just trying to be factual here.

They say the bundle is worth $85 but that is a straight up lie and they know it. They use that on unsuspecting people who don't know what the real CV is (Which is around $12.73 for all those games). I wouldn't care if it was a minimum of around $6 but $15? Come on, that's just shady.

yeah, like the whole world lives here on SG. most of the world doesn't care about SG or CV, and doesn't know any other bundle sites. for most of the world each of those games is worth several dollars. they don't lie. you just don't get it, that's all.

A nice charity pack that offers a few good indie games (and a really, really terrible one). I wish they included a Twitch Turbo coupon in it, but I guess they couldn't do that this soon after they packed in in a bundle a few weeks ago.

By the way, the amount of bundles sold will give us a generally decent idea on how many copies are bought by G2A/Kinguin resellers, as this one will never be profitable for key sellers.

Do you want one in case they allow more than one activation per account ? I have (at least) one from the E3 digital ticket Bundle lying around that I can't use even if I wanted to and I don't even know what it's supposed to do :D

They can be used by someone else on top of what they have, but I already got one gifted to me on top of the two I bought. So I wouldn't be able to use it before it expires on the first day of September. But I appreciate the offer. ♥
