So, on Thursday, I will have surgery on my back. I have been suffering with this thing since March 2017, and out of work since Sept same year. I was on a waiting list since September '17 and decided to go private by getting out a loan since I'd likely have to wait another year on the public. Nope, I didn't have insurance.

If you pray, say a prayer that all will go well and the surgery will be successful, so I can go back to work. :)
EDIT: It got rescheduled to Tuesday 19th March.

Sorry for not responding directly to all the messages. I have read and appreciated them all. Thank you. <3

Here are a few private giveaways. They will all end on Wednesday since I might not be online for some days afterward.

I've had an herniated disc (lumbar) and surgery worked wonders on me. Hope the best for you!

Mine is a prolapsing L4/L5 disc. Can you believe I had an MRI in Sept 17 that came back the next day marked URGENT in all caps. My doctor was on the phone to me right away. Universal healthcare is not all it's cracked up to be.

And that's great. I am not looking forward to it, but hearing success stories makes me feel better about it. lol.

I was lucky enough to have a contained herniation (the disc was barely slipped) and was thus elegible for this kind of treatment which is minimally invasive.

Another alternative for my case was using SpineJet or DiscoGel, but not every patient is elegible for those treatments, it all depends on the age and the extent of the condition.

In my case I had both discs L5/S1 and L4/L5 treated.

Wow, I never even heard of that. That's interesting!

They sent me for an epidural nerve block alright, but that was it. It didn't work. The bulge in my disc is too big. It's covering 3/4 of the little space where the nerves are. (Not sure what it's called) and so I have severe sciatica. Fully closed over that causes Cauda Equina, but chances of that happening are very slim, thankfully. They're going to snip away that little piece of disc (discectomy) since it's the least invasive thing they can do in my case.

Unfortunately.

Here's hoping for the best, both during and after the operation.

Best of luck on a successful surgery and speedy recovery. BTW, the the links work without removing the ANTIBOT. I think you need to put it before the 5-digit code.

Oh back injuries are really serious, Shannon, and I feel so sorry for you. You must have had a really hard and painful time. :(
But let's stay positive and I strongly believe that everything will go fine during your surgery.
I will keep you in mind on thursday and maybe that will help a bit spiritual-wise and I will also pray for you. :)

Good luck and get well soon!

Don't be nervous, you'll be fine. Your surgeon and his or her team will have steady hands and keen eyes. Enjoy the morphine afterwards and have a speedy recovery :)
