No, it's because the daily deals sometimes reduce a games price even more. Example - Torchlight 2 is 50% all the way through the sale, but the daily deal could make it 75%.

Summer Sale has time restricted deals and deals that last for the whole sale. What those people try to say is that you should never buy the long-term deals because it could happen that the game will be a time restricted deal until the last day, and those deals are generally better

This. At least that was the way it was the last years, as long as this years sale hasn't started we don't know how it will look like.
On a semi related note: Have the weekend deals always just gone till sunday 1 pm PDT ? Just curious as I thought to remember a later ending time.

On the last day of the Steam Summer Sale does everything go on a huge sale? Is that way people say wait until the last day if your game isn't a daily deal?
