That time everybody blacklisted you

I never paid attention to it, and looking at my stats I notice only two peaks in blacklists - When blacklists were first integrated, and another peak of 6 blacklists on April 21 of 2016. From both of these, the first peak's reason is obvious, so I looked into the other one, by looking through my threads created around that time.

I totally deserve every blacklist I have lol.

I got my first blacklists for making a giveaway train.

After that, I think I said something controversial that some people (likely the ones that use terms like SJW) didn't like.

After that, I got ESGST, hid my blacklist counter, and stopped worrying about it. I only encountered two people who had me on their blacklist - one objected to something I said at some point but couldn't remember what it was and took me off, the other spouted racist stuff at me and I was okay staying on his blacklist.

I think as long as you try to be kind to people and treat them with respect, it's not something you need to worry about.

I have a total of 5 people on my blacklist, all of whom were so hateful and insulting towards other SG members that I would have banned them.

I deserve every blacklist I'm on. Most of them are probably retaliatory blacklists for when I blacklisted somebody.
Also I say obnoxious things sometimes.
And sometimes I make a thread with a giveaway in it. So no doubt I deserve to be blacklisted for that.

What I don't deserve is the whitelists I'm on.

Some of mine came from giving away a free game while it was still available for free on Humble. This was before we had the "no-CV" option, so the giveaway would have given me CV even though I got it for nothing. I wasn't really thinking about CV, I was just thinking I would share with people who might not have a Humble account... but it was pretty dumb in retrospect, so I consider those blacklists "deserved."

I've also encountered a few people who said they only blacklisted me because I blacklisted them first -- this was before blacklists were automatically reciprocal -- and that makes sense. I used to have a ton of people on my blacklist, before I cleared it. So I guess those would qualify as "deserved" also.

Beyond that, I'm not sure -- it's hard to know whether a blacklist is "deserved" if you don't know why you got it! So I don't know, and I don't care -- I try to focus on the people who whitelisted me, and ignore the ones who blacklisted me.

There are 1000 registered blacklists.
People who have violated/violations with SGtools.
People who are suspected of BOT or cheating.(I've done this shit several times in the past)@
People who have too many wins. (I don't care recently)
People who have a rich game library. (I don't care recently)
Because we want to prioritize winning people who have nothing to enjoy.

I once made a thread asking about how to find out if I game is region retstricted. Got blacklisted by one person then. Apparently people don't like when you ask questions. The other one...no idea and don't care.

I honestly don't know why I got my blacklists. I had a spike of +3 blacklists in just a couple days. It was during a period where I was pretty active in comments. shrugs Part of me would enjoy knowing all the individual reasons. Most of me doesn't care.

I only had one person on my blacklist, (who I just removed) because I was tired of hiding all the trash games they were giving away and I couldn't find a way to just ignore that user's giveaways.

Oh! I bet most of my blacklists were from me mass posting where to get the free keys (like humble bundle freebees) that people started spamming giveaways for. That would make sense. So I guess I deserved those? I mean, trying to make it easy for people to click through to a free game is totally a blacklist worthy action. ^-^

Ah I once made a puzzle giveaway that turned out to be surprisingly difficult. The game I was offering happened to be unbundled, but I didn't realize the key was region-locked and thus failed to mention. So basically after a bunch of people struggled to reach the giveaway, I had to delete the giveaway to create a new region-locked giveaway.
In my defense I did make a second giveaway as to appease those guys lol.
Honestly didn't even get that many blacklists then, but I'm not the most active commenter, so that's the biggest spike I had.

It was 2 days ago, after creating a giveaway of Hatred (I can understand that the game is not for everyone, probably I triggered it from description, I don't know, and to be honest, I don't care).

In the past, this site allowed one-way blacklists. That means, if you blacklisted someone, you could still enter their giveaways. You can imagine the possibilities.
As cg made more recent updates, he made them two way, so if one person BL's, neither can enter either's GA.
Personally, when this went into effect, I cleaned out my list. I think it's a more fair system, and I don't worry about who or why anymore (except on the community train, derails suck).

I lowkey feel like this needed a "some yes, some no" option.

(tbh in the community train we just had. people put me on their blacklist just because I didn't put a bump back to the community train thread. Like... so insignificant. Why BL. w/e)

I got my first blacklists because i created a puzzle giveway and another because I created a train. Well, at least I believe this to be the case. And my next ones will be for commenting on a thread about blacklisting,

I have no one on my Blacklist but I know I'm on some. Mostly for my ratio which doesn't bother me at all because I gave away some decent games here and my financial situation doesn't allow me to do that anymore since having three heart attacks and two strokes and being unable to work now. A couple of others I was blacklisted after winning a game because some people don't want repeat winners of their giveaways and like to give others a chance and that doesn't bother me either.

if you don't want blacklists don't use the forum. Easy.
Mainly because humans usually not tolerating the opinions of others if they think differently.
Mainly because most humans not tolerating free speech, if others saying something else what they believe/want.
Additionally, no point to care about blacklists, if they blacklisting you they can't join your giveaways so it at least a guarantee that no hater will win it.
I personally use blacklists only on persons who blacklisted me if I find one (to ensure they don't go hypocrite and removing it just to be able to join my trains, I like when someone sticks to his/her decision) and on trolls whose doing it continuously.

Its a free website for that choice. however most people do it because they don't like the other persons opinion, which is fine but also childish? I understand, no regrets.

I only had a "blacklist spike" of +6 when I ended up doubling my sent : won ratio with some bundle trash over 2 years ago.

To be honest, I've never been mass blacklisted. People have of course blacklisted me for whatever reason, but I honestly don't care. I know one of them blacklisted me because I blacklisted him for being kinda shady with his GA practices (making fake GAs, deliberately giving people wrong keys for similarly named games to the GA so he'll get CV for it, and so on.) The rest, I don't know who they are and I don't care to find out. I can literally count on one hand the people I have blacklisted and all of them are for being kinda shitty people, not simply some forum comment I disagreed with, so I guess I deserved a blacklist from them in return. LOL.

One person unblacklisted me during the community train lol. While I don't pay attention to it too much, I did check that for the lulz. No idea who that was, but I guess they wanted to enter my GAs. lol. The upside to people blacklisting you is that it works both ways. =)

Same here, an over-the-top-angry and rude reply where I bashed a person well above what he deserved (if he deserved any bashing at all...)
I most certainly earned every blacklist I gained that day until I came to my senses, chickened out and deleted my comment.

You know when you have calmed down, slept on it, and read your own words the next day and cringe over them? Yeah, like that....
