It's possible that it was activated from outside, I think itwill only block you if you redeemed it from HB themselves.
I bought the latest Telltale Bundle (Tier 2), but never activated the Season 1 key since I won it from a whitelist GA here. Had no problems to grab another key just now for free and save it to my special .txt :)

It's only removed while it's currently free. Once the promotion ends, then you will be able to give it away for 0 cv. It will still cost the same points to enter the giveaway, but the giveaway creator gets no credit towards their level. This was a recently implemented change in rules to allow previously free games to still be given away. Read this thread:

I don't doubt there are ways to bypass this, but I won't bother.
What I mean is that it doesn't seem fair for the customers that actually bought the game to refuse them a free copy of the game as long as it's free. It's like saying: "Oh, you had money to buy it, you don't get it for free." which I very much dislike.

I think that their logic is more like "He already owns this game, why would we give it to him for the second time?". In most of the giveaways there are many, but limited copies. I don't know if it's like it in there, but still.

You're missing the point. It's not about owning it multiple times, it's about discriminating based on the transaction history which is something entirely different. Besides, "Free" doesn't come with strings attached and doesn't require explanations.
One friend of mine bought it and gave it to his GF a while ago and guess what, according to him he wasn't able to get a free copy today for his own account because he bought it in the past. Now this is BS and it's a practice that should not occur.
I don't give a damn about the game itself. I bought it on console, I also got it for free on PS Plus. I bought it on Steam as well. I might even buy it again sometimes in the future when I want to give it away. What irked me was the discrimination based on what you bought in the past, for something that should supposedly be free.
Unless this is a bug on their side (and they have their share of bugs) this is a thumbs down from me.

If someone else wants a copy, he claims it himself on his account. You can just give him the link, there is no discrimination here. And there is no point of having two copies of the same game, they don't give you another one because they hate you, but because you already have one. If someone else doesn't have one, he can have it for free. Your account is only for yourself, not anyone else, so they assume that you already have that game. If you don't and you bought it for someone else, the fault is on your side, and your account it not used for you, and that's a problem.

Please stop talking on behalf of HB. It was a bug on their side (like many others) and only some were affected by it, which is miles better than discriminating based on past transaction history.
And please stop trying to find faults with others when you're clearly exploiting HB's system in order to get multiple free copies.

Thanks for confirming it was an isolated issue and only some were affected by it. Based on other's reports as well, it was probably a bug like many others, which in this instance is a good thing.

Who got none of the copies? Explain this to me. and I wanted to give this game on the giveaway, but instead I gave it to my friend, so no copies are wasted. And I cheated the system and made the account instead of my friend, but the final effect is the same. And if you want second copy of the game, you simply make another account, there is a game need which is 1 Person = 1 Copy of the game. If you want other people to have it, you either make them do an account or do it for them. Why would someone gave away something for free, and said "Wait, you've got 2nd copy of that, give it to someone"? Everyone can get this copy, and if he can't, you can make the account for them.

If im lucky, atleast 3 people end up caring....previously, nobody gave a shit about the free weekends....maybe a couple but they didnt even want to play with me and other ones that also did show interest, ended up not playing...i wish they were honest and cared...but they dont.... eh... i wish i stopped caring too so i could stop doing thjis....
