Playing Matters Recruitment Topic v3

Playing Matters is a group that values playing wins from SteamGifts. We hope to create a respectable and dependable platform to unite friendly and passionate gamers.
Our group is not so much about making giveaways, but about enjoying what we already have and sharing fun with like-minded people. We aim to create a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere in our group.

We fully encourage fun little chats to take place in our group giveaways. Additionally we have our own Discord server for our members to make new friends and enjoy each other’s company while also enjoying our wins.

Before applying to join our group, please make sure that:

How to apply:

If you meet the requirements mentioned above and want to join, reply to this topic stating that you are applying to the group and tell us a bit about your favourite SG win. It doesn’t have to be much - maybe a sentence or two.

Creating a BLAEO account is not required but we’d still like you to post the link to your profile if you have it, whether you use it actively or not.

We will have a look at your profile(s) and contact you in due time.

We hope to see you among us. Have fun winning games and playing them!

Please don’t send friend requests to mods or admins.

If you don't receive a direct reply within 7 days, your application is likely under consideration. Also, if your application is rejected please don’t allow this to break your spirit. Instead use it as a motivation to discover and enjoy new games among your SG wins. Who knows, maybe your next favourite game is right around the corner.

Hi there! I'd like to apply to the group!
My favourite wins were Automachef and Kathy Rain. Wins from sg are high on my playlist, especially the good ones! But even the garbage games (numerously present on sg) are fun to atleast explore.

Hi, you have a good attitude towards SG wins, at least according to what you say :3

Currently you are below our absolute minimal requirements on beating the wins (≥25% complete: 18.5% (5/27), this should be more than 50% to start the application).

If you are on a way to prioritize the gifts given to you by awesome community of SG, you will be able to find a way to our group sooner or later. We will be waiting for you!

I have adopted the philosophy to play as much as possible, till completion if sensible or till a quarter to give it a fair try. I would be honoured to play amongst you!

Can I apply? Also, if I win any game do I have to complete all its achievements or only the campaign?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You have already won one game and you haven't beaten it yet, so nope, at the moment your profile does not look like you could apply.

We are not asking for achievement hunting per se, but for beating the games - story, campaign, all levels etc. (or playing/exploring through the game content for games which can not be "beaten").

If you are really interested in this group for people who play their wins, please read our group information, rules and guidelines more accurately, these answer a lot of questions.

Hey Requiemmm/guisado1,

I am in wonder. You request or have requested to join many group here on Steamgifts, despite not qualifying for a lot of them. Do you read the requirements to join a group at all or do you just don't care for the rules of a given group?

Haven't played Batman telltale yet, but played not so long ago The wolf among us. Have mixed feeling about the setting of the game itself (especially plot and characters) but the gameplay was very enjoyable, and there is very unusual scent of noir, which was great by itself.

Knocking on the door to see if I get in. No idea about my stats but I am certain that I am not yet at 100% so some backlog is still to be cleared. It would be hard to pick merely one win over others. I had many enjoyable moments with my wins. Rise of the Tomb Raider was a solid action game. Ori and the Blind Forest was such a beautiful audiovisual experience. Dota 2 made me sacrifice my soul so it must count for something.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Haven't played Ori. Looks great, but 2D platforming metroidvania perspective looks a bit terrifying to me atm :3 I really enjoyed Blasphemous not so long ago but this is more of a rare exception.

Tomb Raider rebooted were really fun games.
Yes, felt a bit.. While these are done in a very "established" (if not cliche) way, suggesting fan-servicing the genre lovers, it was something that haven't been properly done before and should have existed already :D Really good tribute to all older Tomb Raider games and films. A real adventure, about good old classic treasure hunting adventurers, stepping in terra incognita like in old hollywood films. Ruins, jungles, a bit of historical and archeological research. These puzzles :3 Maybe unreasonably too much killing.
The other two games were similar, fun nonetheless.

Hey there!

I'd like to join if possible.

BLAEO profile: https://www.backlog-assassins.net/users/lPyl

Quick question about the rules (didn't find that in the guildeline/FAQ) : how is handled game that require DLC to get most of the achievements (like for example, out of the game I won recently, Sanctus Reach has more than half the achievements that require a DLC )?

As for my favorite SG Win, it's hard to say. Most of them have been decent game but nothing extra.
I guess I'll go with Post Human War, just because of the silliness of the unit design and the fact that it's actually a rather challenging/good strategical game.

Hi, our team would prefer to see much bigger part of wins beaten before extending an invitation.

In particular, we noticed that you have played in recent times some wins to exceed the 25% achievement threshold but not further, looks like these games are abandoned after this point. As we try to tell, just achievement unlocking per se is not what we are looking for in our (future) group members. If you are genuinely interested in our group and just wanted to join asap, please, take your time instead.

Hi. If that is your stance, I can reapply when i beat more of them. I wouldn't consider them abandoned, just got distracted. The only games I consider abandoned are Mims beginning (really didn't like it), Think of the Children (I suck so bad I couldn't get past the first level) and V-Rally 4 (played for quite a bit, last place is my place). I'm currently playing another one of my wins - Punch club and enjoying it. The 25% is mostly a coincidence, I think it's 2 games, Clatter which has very few achievements (and yes, not finished yet) and Crowntakers which I just need to beat the final boss (and a lot of achievements require DLC). Thanks for considering my request.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I didn't mean only 25% exactly, but also more. All in all, part of wins which are actually finished / beaten is small at this moment, really not close to overall per-script result (even accounting the ~beaten games which didn't yield much achievement unlocking, yes we try to consider as much as possible).

And yes, we encourage you to give the wins more love and reapply in future, by all means!

Does this rule:

Maintain our requirements of having at least 50% of played wins with 25% of completed achievements at all times.
Means the games won on SG? If so, do I qualify now? And, should the achievements be for all the games won's achievements should be 25%?
I am pretty sure I clear the former, because I have 2 wins and I have completed one, but not so sure about the latter...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, means statistics over all SG wins. But this is a rule to maintain the playing/beating the games you have won while you are already a group member. If you want to apply to the group, this is a different thing, and we prefer to see more wins beaten.

There is a section explaining that for people with less than 10 wins, we wish to invite when about 80% of wins or more are beaten. Achievements are not very important in this case, since we can check out each won game separately to see what happened to it. Let's not go deeper into details, the bottom line here is that for you it would be good to have both/all wins beaten at the moment of application, and beat any new wins shortly after winning (in reasonable, feasible time).

Hi. I've been wanting to join this group, but I didn't apply because I don't fit this:

We are interested in members who played more than 50% of wins with 25% achievement completion. For members with fewer than 10 wins, 80+% played for games with 25% achievement completion is required to join.

I've won 3 games and played 2 (or rather, finished 2), which gives me 66%. However, I did try playing the 3rd one and I simply didn't enjoy it, even a tiny bit. I've been thinking I can apply if I ever win more games - but that hasn't happened in the last year. So I wanted to ask if I can still join the group.

Hi, I'd like to join this group.
From my recent wins I really enjoyed System Shock 2. Not having played it always felt like a big hole in my "gaming career" and I'm glad I managed to fix that. I loved the story and how it's narrated, plus I found the gameplay still enjoyable, it didn't feel like a 20 year old game at all.

I have no BLAEO profile.

Hi, I'd like to apply to join the group!

I had a hard time narrowing it down to only one favourite SG win, but I think I'd have to give it to Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition. It's such a visually stunning game and the gameplay mechanics of it are fluid once you unlock all your abilities. I'm also not the type to usually play a game multiple times from the start just because I'm so focused on tackling my backlog, but this one got played 3 times to go after various achievements. Unfortunately, despite all that extra practice, I'm not good enough for a no-death run so it'll never be 100% completed. :c

Hello, I'm interested in joining your group.

Most memorable win was for Jets'n'Guns 2. It was a new, wishlisted game and completely unexpected since I don't have luck with those. Completed it right away and got everything it has to offer.

Hi, great you are interested in PM. You have lower wins completion rate than we require. (Per script value of wins played with at least 25% of achievements unlocking is now at about 37.4% when we wish for more than 50% at all times). Would be great if you reapplied when more wins will be beaten!

Haven't played much side scrolling bullet hells since childhood. One of the least favourite genres for me. One memorable from recent years was Steredenn, I like how it looks. Though I haven't beaten it in story mode back then :3
On the other hand, scrollers with customizable modules have some sweet spot for me because of some good game I played in a game club back when I was in elementary. Alas, never remembered or found out what game it was.

Oh, egg on my face, I completely forgot about the achievement requirement. I'll definitely go through my wins and try to improve that.

My favorite win is Project Warlock. I didnt complete a game but still it was very enjoyable ride. I like this kind of games, i hope a guy/girl/whatyouwanttocallurself reading this give it a try too!
In excuse of my low percentage of playing games i won or getting achievements - im a student so my free time is not something i have on a regular basis, so winning games became more of a hobby. But i'll try to improve my status and give a try to every game i've won!

Yes, while I loved the first Deus Ex and I can't say that Deus Ex: Human Revolution really follows the setting and feel of the original, the game itself was pretty good, and imho it was a great addition to cyberpunk games list back then.

Then you have a problem you may want to fix one way or another to not formally be a rule breaker and to not get a suspension eventually. Now it is late to simply change the feedback to "not received". You will need to create a ticket and ask SG mods for assistance.

Regarding the application, good job, but we would prefer to see even more wins beaten.
Also, I noticed that you have relatively high completion rate for these wins you have beaten, and likewise there is a lot of wins you haven't touched yet at all. How do you see you approach to playing wins (past and future)? Do you plan to give an equally good go to each past win or have there accumulated an amount of games you would rather not play? If so, how many would you gather?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I only enter giveaways that i want to play the game, so each game i won means that i will play it.
But it will take time because of 3 reason:

  1. Im working minimum 9 hours at day, and when i come home i have my beautiful wife and two daughters (soon 3th 😃)
  2. I have a problem of overachiever, means that i have to play every achievement so sometime to get it need to play a few walkthroughs to get them in a raw (somtime its not working and i give up)
  3. I can win a game that i want to play but suddenly i got game that i want to play more so i playing the second game and etc. For example i have five games from my winning already installed but i bought the game "Styx Shards of darkness" and now im playing it cause ilhe jump to first place in the list

Thank you for your help, if its not good it ok to tell me i will understand

And we encourage you to solve the problem with this mistaken non-activated win. Be careful checking that gifted keys correspond to the GA in question in future!

Hi!
I am interested to join.
53.85% of my wins should be at 25% or more achievements.
And around 46% of my won SG games should be beaten or completed.

BLAEO profile:
https://www.backlog-assassins.net/users/EleonoraFalcon

Several of my wins from here are on my 💜Recommendations list.
I really loved Figment. The puzzles, the music and characters but also the big story, it's a masterpiece in my opinion.
Tengami was an early win and a really short game (1h) but I really liked it. It was very relaxing and beautiful art.
And well, I can't forget about Cat Quest. It's just such a great game. It has great cat puns, a fun story, pretty art, ... In my opinion it's a game that has everything.

If for some reason I am not accepted, no hard feelings.
Thank you for the chance!

Unfortunately I am not very familiar with any of these games myself. Cat Quest has been planned to try out with my sis some day though!

I have noticed that according to your Steam account you haven't played almost any games longer than 15+ hours, this includes not beating any of the longer games. You own mostly short games, but a few long ones too, including a couple of SG wins. Also, looks like you try out games a lot but don't finish them before going to the next ones. Could you briefly describe how do you prefer to play, and how to choose games for playing generally?

Since there are a lot of games which can require a longer time commitment than you have normally played on your Steam account, do you somehow control to not win on SG the longer games, or are you up for challenge to start beating longer games may you be winning these?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I haven't played Cat Quest 2 much But I heard it's even better than the first.
I assumed you meant you will play that one with your sis since it has multiplayer.
But even if it is the first one, I'm sure you both will still have a lot of fun!

About your questions.
I do have the tendency to play multiple games. I do the same with watching series or reading books. I play a bit of this game and later a bit of another game. I have moments that I don't feel great and at those moments it is difficult to stick to one game more.
I always try to enter the PAGYWOSG events. They make me set goals, but I do not always complete all games. I try, but it also depends on time and how I feel.

I am a member of PA and I do my best to beat those games ASAP.
I have to be honest that I have kept a few games unplayed because my intention was to stream me playing them. But the streaming has been postponed for a bit (looking into getting a better pc)

I also have the problem that I get sick from some games. Meaning that I get nauseous and almost have to puke.
Some games I should have known (I wanted to play Dear Esther but really should have known it would make me sick) but some I was not expecting it to happen (like Brutal Legend). This makes it more difficult for me to play those games because I need some time to stop feeling sick to be able to play again.

To decided for which games I enter giveaways I just look if it's a game I find interesting and would want to play. I do not look at how much time it would take to complete the game.
If I would win a game (long or short) from P!M! it would be first on my list, as PA wins are now.

If you have further questions, please feel free to ask!

Hello, i'm interested in joining the group. I'm pretty sure that i haven't meet the requirements yet though so is it okay to ask for my stats? Just want to make sure i calculate it right. Thanks in advance! :)

My favorite sg win is my first win, the wolf among us. Since i never had a win before, i was skeptic of getting a single win from the train event. I was so excited knowing that i won a game, and much to my surprise, the game itself is a gem (well, i usually entered a giveaway that interests me, but tbh i kinda forgot that i entered that one since I went through a lot of it). It was my first time playing telltale games too and i was blown away by its quality.

I don't have a blaeo account yet.

Thanks in advance!

Played The wolf among us last year. I haven't played much of Telltale games, gameplay felt novel and enjoyable. I can't say I fell in love with the game world and characters but this was a great noir title for me.

You were really lucky to win a game like this as a first win in my opinion ;3 I don't want to remember some of my early wins.. 2 of them have even been removed from Steam afterwards :3
I am glad to see more and more people starting SG history with a good note. Hopefully playing wins communities on SG will also continue to accompany you further on!

I liked how they are leaving the decision to the players, it feels like you are in the game as well. I don't think i played much noir games but it definitely one of the good ones.

Thanks! I didn't expect to win a game like this either. I thought all my luck was used up on that win, hahah. Hopefully you will win better games later on though to make up with your early wins.

I'll do my best! :)

Let's try this again. Since my first application I've won a lot of games and played a lot more, I am currently at 42,14% of unfinished or never played wins as tracked by BLAEO.

I have been over the 50% mark for over a year now, actually closer to the 60% mark for most of it.

Current stats:. ≥25% complete: 56.3% (126/224), completed: 25.4% (57/224)

I still only enter into GA's for games I want to play, which games will get played next mostly depends on the current monthly theme in the event I am hosting (PAGYWOSG) , can't really have the admin not play fitting wins^^
I try to prioritize wins over backlog games, unless I am challenged to play one or one of them really catches my eye, because I think it is only right to give the wins a fair try. I also play games to beat them, which is why I have very few games in the won't play category, basically you can fit those into 3 categories, games where I am stuck, games which I have several versions of and games that won't run on my system basically because they are too old.
I also noticed that I have some longer (15-25h+) unplayed wins from the past year and decided to at least play one of those each month (basically I choose 1 of the 20 oldest fitting long games for my event).

Which is how I played Dead Island Definitive Edition this month, which is my current pick for favourite win (it kinda changes monthly). Is it the best game in the world, surely not, did I have a lot of fun whacking all those zombies, I defintily did.

You will notice that there is one more addition to the won't play category on wins since my last application. It is basically the same with Steel Rats as with the other games on that list. I played it, got stuck near the end because of horrible controls and gave up after several tries.

My most memorable won would have to be Opus Magnum. I'm an arcade gamer by nature, so there are few genres I'm not good at, but it... did give me some insight into what Einstein was talking about. A couple of hours working on the optimization was the equivalent of a week for me.
