Faster Than Light and Hotline Miami

I've heard good things about both, but haven't played either personally. I'd suggest waiting until the winter sales since you're on the fence.

Hotline Miami is amazing if you don't mind restarting the level like a thousand times before you actually complete it. It's extremely fun though. Lot of violence and blood as well.

FTL is so fantastic. Probably one of my favorite games released this year. If you have any interest in roguelikes you will love it. Can't speak to hotline miami.

They're both great games, but I'm not sure they'll get a 75% discount during the next winter sales.

FTL is a roguelike, and one of the better ones that I've played. If you like roguelikes, you'll love FTL. I can't speak for Hotline Miami, though.
