Origin key question..

Okay, I have a BF3 EP key I know for a fact was activated. Just to see what would happen, I tried the key in Origin and it actually was going to let me use it!

I didn't though, what happens if you do that? I'm just curious as to why it works at all.

Origin always let you use the key, they'll show infos about the game and ask if you want to proceed.
If the key is not duped a green bar will appear saying that you have activated it and if the key is duped a red bar will appear.

It happens the same whit dragon age origin ultimate edition from steam, where you can active it in origin as well but the dlc will not work. I use origin for his cloud mostly on that game

Lol same with me. Someone put up a ninja key for Sim City and I put it in and I thought I ninja'd it. But nope, just a code of broken promises.
