hopefully, you can skip texts... then in a matter of seconds you reach end of game.
You can interact 3 times in this game :
- choose what to do with plants.
- patreon or not the author
- patreon for more goodies or not

No. Definitely not, don't judge visual novels based on your experience with these shitty 'boobs, hur hur' "games". A visual novel IS often more like a book with images so of course it's mostly reading and you'll probably never interact with the environment since if anything, it's a "choose you own story" kind of game where you will be given choices from time to time which will affect the rest of the game (unless it's a kinetic novel, which means it's like reading a book with images, and no choices or different paths). A good VN will also have a huge amount of well-written characters, sprites, backgrounds and SFX/music.
An example of a good visual novel would probably be Katawa Shoujo. It's not on Steam but it is free to download and play. Be warned that it is a NSFW VN though. I thought that the NSFW scenes weren't really necessary to the story, but the storytelling, writing, music and art made the visual novel one of the best I've played.
