So, I recently binge-played FF9. It was my first, and only, Final Fantasy I've ever played. I'm being honest here when I say it is quite honestly THE best game I've ever played with Chrono Cross at a VERY close second. So, here you go. Hopefully someone else can experience this god damn amazing.

My review is below. If you don't mind rating it and giving feedback, I'd appreciate it. I'm trying to write more reviews, especially on games I'm passionate about.

Also, hello. I've been away for a while. Again. What's up? Will probably bump this thread every so often, for the giveaway. Please discuss the topic of the poll. I'm interested, but don't turn this into a FF-politics threads, heh.

Giveaway : https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/1v5Bd/final-fantasy-ix

Edit : Bumping for the last week + 2 days of the giveaway. Cheers!

My Favorite is FF VIII, the triple triad card game was one of my favorite mini-game ever, but i think that FF IX has the the most enjoyable Chocobo mini-game, and it was the first Final fantasy and the first rpg/jrpg i have played so it has a very special place in my heart :)

FF IX is amazing, but I find FF VII far more memorable, so basically VII is my favorite, and IX my second.
(Zidane is a better protagonist than Cloud, though)

7 was my absolute favorite, I wish I could have seen the version they intended to make rather than the one we received.
There was a White Flying Chocobo, all the characters were supposed to die except the three you picked, plus a myriad of other things.

Here's honestly hoping they don't completely fuck the game, and their fans, over with the Remake.

If I have to pick one, I choose Type-0, I really loved how mature and "raw" the story was compared to the other titles of the franchise. Obviously it's not the greatest one, it has a lot of issues (in both gameplay and plot) but to me, it has a great charm.
And on top of that, how can you dislike Deuce?

The ending of Type-0 made it the best out of all FF games <3
Deuce is cute but I had a hard time to know how to use her at first lol my fav is king, just shoot them alll~

True, Deuce is a very hard character to master and King is, hands down, the best in long range combat, Trey is too slow to me and I don't really like Cater's skills.
But my favorite is Deuce, above all. I just can't help but love the fact that she fight with a flute.

For me Jack was way too slow and the last I leveled up x.x

I liked Rem & Machina's crystal's scene, it was heartbreaking and I didn't expect it

My favourite Final Fantasy is IV, my first was VII. My favourite Squaresoft game is Vagrant Story, though.

Thanks for the giveaway, would love to have IX on Steam (it's one of my favourites too, and PS1 and CD are still in my cupboard somewhere ;)). Gave you a thumbs up as well!

I've played V, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, XIII, XIII-2, XIII-Lightning returns, FF tactics and FF IX is still my favourite. Finish it multiple times on ps1 with all combination of characters.
I'm currently playing IX at steam for the achivement :D.

Out of the Final Fantasy games, 9 is my favourite. I've not played every single one, but if I were to make a ranking of the ones I've played, it would be::
9, 6, 5, 7, 8, 13, Tactics Advance, 1.
I need to really sit down and play through Type-0 at some point. Had some technical issues with it, but I've got a new graphics card now.

But the FF series are not my favourite JRPGs. Xenogears for an example beats it.

I did enjoy ff9....for what I could play that it. I never owned it when I was younger so I emulated it a little while back. Got just past where you first encounter eiko and then the game just kept crashing. Would not let me progress. I was absolutely devestated. Of course a similar situation happened with ff8. Disk 1 of it on my ps1 must have been broken because the game would just crash during the ballroom dance cutscene right after you get back from your first real mission. Never once was able to of progressed past that. I seem to have terrible luck with final fantasy games. Mind if I enter to give it a shot to see if maybe a game will start working properly for me for once?

You can enter for sure. Sucks that it was crashing but hey, at least you experienced some of it to keep you thinking of completing it, eh?

Oh definitely. A big game like that and only being allowed to see a fraction of it?! Madness. Drives me crazy with the need to complete both it and 8. I want to at least of been able to try out as many of the final fantasy games as possible. Unfortunatly that means I may have to get a ps4 to play the remaster of 7 and possibly 12. Ugh, money! And though it isn't "technically" a final fantasy game, it is of the genre and it is a spin off tale, but my favourite has always been Secret of mana.

My favorite is XII. Which I know is the unpopular opinion. Actually IX is probably a close second... gotta love Vivi.

This is the first FF I play and so far my favourite game of al time, though I'm also very fond of VIII and I'm going through VII and really enjoying it. It's story, soundtrack and characters are all so very good, some of the best I've ever seen. I love every characters in it, even Quina (I think they are hilarious :P). It's a very romantic story, not just the love story between Zidane and Garnet but also the theme about existentialism, about life and finding your happy ending. If there's one thing I wish the game had done better it would be to give Freya a better closure, she is basically forgotten in the second half aside from a tiny moment at the end and it's still so bittersweet. She's one of my favourite characters and she deserves a happier ending.

I haven't had the chance to try the remastered version but from what I've heard it's a good port. Thank you for making this giveaway, everyone deserves a chance to try this wonderful game!

Yeah, the romance not being physical but more emotional is what got me. They built this relationship between Garnet and Zidane based solely on the fact that Zidane promised he'd help her, he did, and then a bunch of other stuff happened. I'm pretty sure they never even kiss in the game at all. They do hug a few times, sure, but it's amazing how they did the story without making the romantic side of it physical.

I also liked the existentialism and life parts too, yeah, those were fun to see. I was also annoyed that Freya, Steiner, Quina, and Amarant are shoved off to the side of the game as side-characters. Or, that's how I saw it. Vivi, Eiko, Zidane, and Garnet are most featured in cutscenes and the overall story because... I guess they were the most important? Maybe they could've fleshed out the other characters in their motives and struggles they had to endure, but I guess it just didn't make it into the game.

If I had to choose, I'd say FFX, it's the one that introduced me to the franchise after all :)
