What is your favourite Final Fantasy game(s), or other game(s) similar to the series?
Can't decide for a favorite one but I really liked 8, 10, 13 and Tactics Advance. I played 9 on the PS1 but did not finish it (was on CD-3)
I really appreciate the chance of winning this game.
Thank you for the giveaway and I hope that this will not be your last Final Fantasy :D

FF 7and 8 are the first games I played on the good old PS1. Played some earlier ones later but they still remains my favourites.
Kinda remember having the CDs for 9 but can't remember if I played it or not.

Off the top of my head, my favourite is 7 (was also the first one I played) but I still need to play 6, 12 and the 13 series, and replay 8 through to 10, so that could change in the future. Fairly sure it'll never be one of the others.

The best FF games are 7, 10, 6, 9, 8, 5 and 2, in my opinion - and loosely in that order.
If you like Final Fantasy and still have a 360 knocking about, I highly recommend Lost Odyssey. It's a brilliant game that is highly comparable to Final Fantasy as it was designed and written by the father to Final Fantasy himself, Hironobu Sakaguchi. It also had Nobuo Uematsu as it composer. It's really a gem of a JRPG.
I'd also recommend Golden Sun 1 and 2 on the GBA. Excellent games.

No Xbox at all, unfortunately. I'd also like to try Golden Sun and was going to try and get the games for my GBA, but I uh... "broke" it. Totally not my fault. At all.

9's pretty fun, my only complain about it is the time constrained secret stuff. I prefer to play games at my own pace... explore, grind, etc, you name it. I can have 99 hours of gameplay and still be in the first quarter of the game, hah. So yeah, dislike the fact I had to force myself to rush through the game within a very limited time limit so I get the bestest stuff (which being OCD, I /must/ get)
Been a while since I played 9, thanks for the chance to get it on Steam.

Yeah, I missed out on the Coffee side quest(never knew you were supposed to get to Dali from Treno during a certain point in time, bothered the hell out of me!), the brothers side quest at the very end, and some other stuff. I'm all for it if there's an obvious way to know when to do it, but otherwise it's just annoying. No way I would've known how to do lots of the stuff without a guide or without me stumbling upon it. I still got S treasure hunter rank without the coffee reward, though! :P

I'm pretty excited to play it for myself! my ps1 copy just came in the mail yesterday :D

Very nice review; you went way more in-depth than most reviews and that's what I look for when I'm trying to decide whether to get a game. On the technical side, there are a few typos, but nothing major. (Namely, in the line "Synthesis is basically an item-creation system in which you synthesis(combine) two items to create one.", you used the word "synthesis" twice, where in the second instance it should be "synthesize" or "synthesise", depending on which side of the pond you're from. Or you could ditch it and the parentheses and just say "combine". Sorry, I'm a bit of a grammar fiend. :P)
Thank you for the giveaway! IX isn't my favorite FF but it's an excellent game. <3
X is my favorite in terms of replayability (I've played it completely through at least four times, which is very rare for me), but VII has by far my favorite setting and story, with both games' main characters more-or-less tied; overall, VII has more party members that I like, but X has a couple of outstanding ones. But if supporting characters are included, VII wins--the Turks are awesome.

Whoops, I'm going to edit that. Should've caught the synthesise mistake :P

IX is my favorite but I think the series is good in general up until X-2.

Quina still hasn't sated her appetite to this day... so sad...

I binged FFVI-XIII (excluding XI) in under 2 years after I finally got my hands on them about 6 years ago. It's difficult to say which is my favorite. I like VI, VII, and VIII for all different reasons. IX has a very special place in my heart and I have probably replayed it the most (and I also own its artbook and have recommended it the most...so I guess it is my favorite overall?). It just has this atmosphere about it and just this overall satisfying feeling. VI has a wonderful story and I adore it for all its characters and just how emotional it made me. VII has made a huge impact on the industry and I'm a bit bias since it was my first. VIII I like for its uniqueness and overall oddness that still was enjoyable (most people's complaints mainly spawn from not actually listening to the tutorial and getting lost. It honestly is very simple at its core). X....while I can see just why everyone loves it, I just didn't quite connect as much, but it is still a very good game (and a good entry level for people not used to TBS systems). XII was great and I loved playing it with my brother by my side. While it has its issues, it has these moments that make it worth it.
XIII and all its sequels....I prefer reading the story instead of playing it honestly. I felt a major disconnect with it and I just wish they were executed better.
XIV is a pretty nice MMO and I enjoy playing it with my BF and friends. The story is slow at first, but is amazing in Heavensward.
And finally, XV was a lot better than I was expecting (I was expecting the worst), I just hated how fast the last few chapters went.
Currently playing FFIV for the first time and will be tackling FFV in the near future.
As for similar games, KH (predictable I know) and Persona (3 being my personal favorite) come to mind. The Legend of Zelda franchise as well.
So many of the games are lovely in their own ways. IX was kinda a love letter to the fans of the more classic fantasy settings after several games leaning more towards steampunk and sci fi. You can feel that love kinda seep through. It's a pity the game kinda got overshadowed with the timing of its release being at the end of the PS1's life and X being such a huge hit. It's just a rather well-made game that I was sucked into. I beat it in 3 days of nonstop playing my first time though.
Thanks for the giveaway!

Very detailed reply, thanks! I can feel the enthusiasm in the post and it just makes me intrigued about the other games.
I'd play the MMO(or have a slight interest in how it is) but I'm sadly burnt out on MMOs since... a long time.

FF was a series I always wanted to play growing up, but couldn't because my parents were the type who also banned pokemon and anything they deemed "magical", so when I finally got old enough and the money to buy them, I went all out. They are very lovely games and are honestly one of my favorite game franchises. I try to encourage people to play a lot of the games and find which ones click for them ^^
If you ever feel like tackling FFXIV, lemme know and I'll try to give you pointers as it has some odd learning curves in some places, but it is filled with plenty of nice people.

Not sure if you consider this similar, but Seiken Densetsu 3 (by Squaresoft) is my favorite RPG on the SNES :D
Random fact: Seiken Densetsu, the first in the series and my first RPG on Game Boy, was released in the US as "Final Fantasy Adventure".

Ah, yes, that infamous title in the Final Fantasy series that shot the series into fame and is still a classic today! I still cry at the fame that game got. :') Some fans like to say it's part of some stupid series called "Seiken Densetsu" but they're just jealous!

So, I recently binge-played FF9. It was my first, and only, Final Fantasy I've ever played. I'm being honest here when I say it is quite honestly THE best game I've ever played with Chrono Cross at a VERY close second. So, here you go. Hopefully someone else can experience this god damn amazing.
My review is below. If you don't mind rating it and giving feedback, I'd appreciate it. I'm trying to write more reviews, especially on games I'm passionate about.

Also, hello. I've been away for a while. Again. What's up? Will probably bump this thread every so often, for the giveaway. Please discuss the topic of the poll. I'm interested, but don't turn this into a FF-politics threads, heh.

Edit : Bumping for the last week + 2 days of the giveaway. Cheers!
