Is Orion: Prelude any good? I mean, for what I've seen in videos and screenshots it seems nice, but I'm not sure whether I should get it or not.

Anyway, have a small GA

Never played Halo, but I've heard it's great so I guess that's a good thing!

It used to be a 20 dollar game, but I think the devs sorta converted it into some kind of f2p but pay 1 dollar to own hybrid.

Basically all the negative reviews are from its first release. The devs spent years rebuilding the game since- and basically every recent review is firmly positive. So if you see, say, 'mixed reviews', that's the only reason you don't see 'very positive' instead.

Anyway, the co-op gameplay is a straight base defense; survive 13~ waves while protecting the generator and buying upgrades for yourself. It's a ton of good fun; there's no long-term depth to it, like with campaign co-op, but if you're into team-based survival modes, it's one of the best ones out there. So, if you've got a night to kill, it's the kind of game you and your friends might load up to do so.
Fair warning, I always play with my best friend, and we've gotten a 3rd pugger joining every time we've played, but we rarely get a fourth, so that gives you a bit of scope into online activity. (Empty slots are filled with bots, so no worries about balance- though for a harder challenge, you can always turn bots off.)

What's really interesting about the game is, each of the three classes can be leveled up through play, unlocking new account upgrades, cosmetics, and starting buffs.

Likewise, longer matches may see the upgrade shops unlock additional, more powerful abilities and weapons..

It's pretty great.

But, what's more interesting is, in addition to that firm co-op mode, it has a strong assortment of very creative pvp modes, giving the game a lot of replayability [if you're into pvp].

And yeah, when I bought the game, it was still $10+, so count yourself lucky with the price, rather than using the price as a judge.

Also, it's not actually very Halo-ish. It's more like a spiritual successor to Turok, with the exception that instead of a bad-ass dinosaur-slayer, you're more an average marine trying to survive against a horde of dinosaurs.

It does have some amusing vehicles, though, so I guess that's Halo-esque :P

Anyway, it's one of those games that no matter what else, is good enough and cheap enough both, that there's no reason not to get it; especially when it's half off on the Steam Sale as it is now ;)

It's fun to play when you have nothing to do. And it's so cheap so yeah, buy it :)
