i believe it depends - if he was offensive to someone directly, or breaking other rules (cheating on his puzzles, leaking his priv GA etc etc) he may be pretty sure then he's the one who reported him. He also may have comented "reported" :>

it turned out the the person who reported him did gave warning to him. that's how he knew who report him.
