And yes, here I go, having just woken up (and doing my daily FFBE run) and thinking again.

So this latest bit of thought has me wondering... If you were a monster in an RPG, be it on the side of good or evil, what kind of monster would you be?

And before anyone says it, yes I know that humans are the real monsters in these stories so they don't count.

Edit- And the monster can also be a side character or something like a merchant, should you like to be. Just not a god.

That's easy for me: a phoenix. My life has been a never-ending cycle of burning to death and rising from the ashes, plus they look cool. It'd be one of those phoenixes that's always on fire, though; not the peacock-looking ones. My role would be that of an aloof healer who does her job and just leaves.

Something that can possess or/and mind control control people somehow. Like, I dunno, a ghost or that demon thing from <insert really boring "horror" movie here>. Or something more original... ^_^'

I'd wait until a girl passes through my territory, control her and theeeeen... bring her to a secret cute dress stash I'd have set up somewhere, have her put something cute on, then stop the control and go watch from a safe distance as she's gets embarrassed and outraged at the situation. It would be hilarious. :D
(Oh, and if this is the typical RPG setting and the place is full of danger I'd probably wipe out all the nearby monsters and force all the inevitable bandit camps to surrender to the closest authorities. Can't have my little prank potentially become dangerous.)

Anyway after repeating that a few times I'd probably get slain by some random adventurer with a Mind Shield or high Will stat or something, or a exorcist. Way to ruin my fun, humans!

The most bored monster ever, patiently waiting while you go back to town 5000 times or so to sell all your crap.

the one that doesnt really want to be bothered while watching a movie or playing a game, so he locks the door that the hero now has to spend the next 5 hours of gameplay finding an alternate route for.

A monster that would taunt the player from a distance, then run away. Multiple times. There would never be a chance to kill me though :)

A low-level creature that is hunted more for meat than experience, but as a rare encounter serving as a friendly shopkeeper in an unusual place.

True, but also mimics usually spawn in empty rooms, rewarding chests are usually behind an enemy! :D

Never really aspired to be a monster as such, but if any creature from popular culture counts (not only games), then Flerken seems to fit the bill pretty well based on the popular trend in the comments above. Cute and fluffy? check. Tentacles? check. Shape-shifting? they are disguised as cats, the internet's biggest weakness! Bonuses include cognitive intelligence (so that they can be human-level monsters!), pocket dimensions and teleportation! I'd say they are pretty much invincible without being god-like.

Well, we're talking about monsters, with the OP admitting humans are the worst, so it helps that a seemingly harmless invincible monster can also think like humans... :)

A malboro. Essentially the kind of enemy that is ridiculous but might require you to rethink your strategy

Driders, or more like Quelaag in Dark Souls?

I'm gonna catch a lot of hate here because I don't play either game (I'm assuming the first is Skyrim).

So like human top half, arachnid bottom half. Bug eyes and/or spider mandibles do not guarantee me leaving you on read, either.

Nah, not Skyrim :) Driders are in the DnD system, and a weird variation of theirs appear in the first Dungeon Siege too. Got pictures of both

Not a DnD player, so still up shit's creek lol. I mean, I wouldn't call them hawt, but any port in a storm I guess. Definitely wearing a jimmy hat for Quelaag tho; she looks friendly and all that, but you KNOW she's got some nasty surprise waiting for unsuspecting travelers, if you catch my drift.
