Hi everyone. I talked to a guy on steamtrades. We agreed on a deal and added eachother on steam. Before trading i just noticed that i missread just 1 thing. And because of this, other guy deleted me and give me a negative rep.

Why it is allowed that you can give people rep without trading? I think you should only give rep after a trade. If people don't like you they can easily give you negative rep too.

As far as I know, you can't give rep unless you traded with the guy. If they allowed it, friends would give rep each other.

I could be wrong.

Anyone can rep anyone, only once per user. How would ST be able to know if you really traded or not?

As far as the rules go, you're correct; people should only rep as feedback to completed traded.

There are 2 options on steamgifts.

"I reveiced this game" and "I sent this game"

Maybe there can be options like this in steamtrades. Both traders click this option after trade and they can give rep eachother.

Scammers would just click "No" and then you couldn't Negative rep them :)

Good idea, too much abuse.

Submit a support ticket and explain the situation and they'll remove the -rep

Thanks. I did it. It's not a big deal but i don't like seeing it on my profile. Hope they remove it :)

A deal is a deal, so I can understand his point, but the feedback function is not for that and from what I see from his profile it seems like he is an angry...
You can ask support to remove it but I doubt that something happens since there is no mod for steamtrades afaik.

This is just stupid. You get suspended if you trade the game you won on steamgifts. This is a great option. But Giving rep must not be allowed without trading.

so if someone tries to scam you but you don't trade with him you are not allowed to -rep him because you didn't complete the trade?

You are right at this point, but i don't know how to solve both problems :) But for scammers there is steamrep. We can check the person on steamrep too.

so the +/- rep system is for???

You just got unlucky. With a 7:1 ratio most people will trade with you. A "learn to read" comment does not indicate that you are a bad trader. No need to have 0 -reps

You are right. Thanks :)

As a frequent ST trader, if I opened your page and saw only 1 negative rep, I wouldn't be too worried (more so that it's not calling out a scam but just says "learn to read").

Also, the person who left it has 1 Pos/2 Neg so their opinion is worthless anyways. Don't worry too much about it :)

Thanks. :) As you said he only wrote "learn to read" as a negative rep and it's not a big deal. But i just wondered if there is a way to prevent this kind of reps.

Nope. I have a Negative rep from a time I was impersonated and the person who was scammed left the feedback on my page; nothing you can do about it haha :)

Feedback should be used for :
Successfully completed trades.
Scammers/Impersonators and warning the community about those

Feedback should NOT be used for :
Random comments, unrelated to a trade.
Comments such as "rude", "lowballer", "regifter" and so on. This is trade and not attitude related feedback.
Fake positive feedback for boosting your reputation count.
Revenge reputation (such as giving negative rep to someone just because they gave you false negative rep).

I was coming in the thread to post the exact same thing. LOL!

OP, you can open a support ticket. Chances are someone might be able to remove the comment from your profile. I know they cleaned up a lot of fake -rep a while ago. In the meantime, it's not something that should harm you much. As other have said, is I saw a "learn to read" comment on someone's profile, it wouldn't deter me from trading with the person.

Yes, it won't do much harm, but i don't like seeing it on my profile :) I did submit a support ticket and explained the situation. I hope they remove it.
