What was the first online game you ever played?

If we're talking LAN then Warcraft 3/Stronghold Crusader/Starcraft 1/age of empires 2/Cossacks 1, not sure which one was the first, I played hella lot out of every one of those when I was little. Yeah I was a sucker for RTS, not much anymore though, which is kind of sad. If online then The West (a brower game about, what do you know, the wild west).

Space Empire Elite

Don't really remember the very first. But most memories stem from Red Alert, Starcraft.. and years wasted in Dark Age of Camelot.
The latter being my biggest crush.. ever. 💖

Diablo 1 or Age of Empires.

Race Driver: GRID with horrible lags.

If it wasn't a half-assed attempt at Neopets, it was probably the two now-defunct online gaming sites sponsored by General Mills and Post Cereals.

Been a long long time but i think either Starcraft/Warcraft 1-2/CS 1,3.14? or something.

Edit: Could also have been Half Life deathmatch! More likely than CS at least..

The first Moto Racer! As I recall there was basically a perfect line on each track that gave the best possible time, and pretty much everyone knew the lines... so it was just a question of whether you could actually hit the lines or not.

Endless Online

Ragnarok Online on private servers, I was addicted for a couple years, then a server reset helped me get out of it :s

I'm not sure what the real first online game I played. The first one I remember really getting in to was UT 2003. I played it for a while until I realised that it was giving me nightmares, then stopped, and having played any action online game since then. The online game I played the most was City of Heroes.

Red Hot Pawn, a friend introduced me, back in 2002

Console: Mario Kart Wii, since I always had Nintendo consoles and they were late to the online world.

PC: DooM is always the correct answer, though to be fair, I played Infocom adventures like Zork on a custom engine via TRS-80 based BBSes in the 80's. Oh yeah, baby, I am that old.

At least it isn't Space Wars, I'm not THAT old.

First game I actually played online with other players was a browser game, combats.ru I logged in 2 or 3 times in total, it got boring very quickly. In fact, it was a chat with the most basic combat slapped on top of it.
The game still exists, so it doesn't really indicate how old I am :D

duke nukem 3d on lan in an internet cafe, boy those were times....

Local Co-op on Doom, Unreal, Quake 2/3 and Need for Speed Porsche 2000.
First real online multiplayer was Quake Live

If I recall correctly, I think it was Tibia.
