why people spend money to giveaway games

Because prosocial behaviour tends to be internally rewarded, wich is nicer and better than any other external stuff

Some people like to giveaway stuff.It can get addicting.Other people have so much money it's not even funny so they giveaway stuff.Others give games because it raises your level and you have better chances of winning games yourself.Some people are part of private Steam Groups or SG groups that require a number of games to be given away by you.Maybe some people just end up with a copy of a game and they want to get rid of it.

i only do giveaways when i am on mood, when i have something spare and good i gave it away because someone else might enjoy the game more than i do :). Unlike the guys who do more giveaways, i don't put any level requirments and etc, i mean, what if the potential winner dreams of having that game, but cannot afford to buy games to give away so he can be at that level? I don't care if the winner didn't go giveaways in the past, i just care that he will enjoy the game. Most people here toss their potato bundle leftovers because they don't need them if you ask me, that's what most people do here.

You know that feeling when you won something? Giving something feels even better. Plus I have enough money to spare, so why not? It's not like I'm buying new 60 bucks AAA releases for strangers. Most of my GA's are just bundle leftovers.

And why u leeching these games? U are poor? U cant afford 3 games for $1 from HB? It sounds like an excuse for me.. i dont have 1 dollar...
and why? Someone maybe want game that is for you "leftover" so why not give it away, nobody force u buy expensive games, u still can give leftover games from bundle bcs why not

That's the point, after the GA they aren't strangers anymore. And even if you never meet the winner again, contributing with gibs gives you the chance to interact with so many friendly people and I say it's worth it!

Because I have problems with buiying something for myself, even if it's on my WL (I spent like 50€ on summer sale on myself, but only because I knew I won't have free time after vacations, and I really wanted to play in few games from my WL), but don't have much problem with "Oh hey, it's -75% on steam and it's non-bundled! It's gonna fit nicely to my x celebration thingy or my puzzle".

Because not everybody is a leecher... its just feels right when you win games, you should also give games...point!

Mostly because I really like this community and want to give something back to it (other than random comments).
When you hang out with people you like it doesn't feel right to just leech from them.

Because I've been winning more games than I thought I would, and I feel the need to give back.
I'm not rich, I don't have much money to spare. I've had to put work into getting every single game I have on my Steam library (except for those I won here). But I feel like giving back is a must. The majority of my giveaways aren't extravagant AAA+ games, but I do try my best in balancing everything.

At the moment I'm just aiming to balance real sent/won CV, which I managed to do two weeks ago or so but then won several games so I'm back to 0.86 ratio. So yikes.

Why is it weird to spend money to give things to strangers but it isn't weird to you to repeatedly enter giveaways to receive games freely from strangers as you have to the tune of 22 wins to only 1 gift sent?

Is it because it's easy to take advantage of someone else's generosity but you can't imagine being generous yourself?

I have done it because it can make other people happy. I have won some very good games that I enjoyed a lot or that surprised me. If I didn't win that game I would have bought another game to spend my time on anyway. So why not give something back.

I've also won GTA V not too long after release. so someone spent like 45 dollars on me.

That is pretty much the only reason why I make gibs. I like spending money and spending it on randoms make me happy. Don't really care if the winner loves me forever to tells me to fuck off because they were never the reason why I made gibs in the first place. So long as I have the will and the means to make them, I will.

In a more broader sense, it may have to deal with the way that I was raised to view money. The best way to put it would be to compare it to water. We all need it to live but it is easy to lose it without being careful and it doesn't take much to corrupt it. Even though we don't need much in order to live, we are unlikely to say no to more. We would like to swim in it, but it is easy to become overwhelmed and drown. And like water, it tastes best after a hard days work when shared with others.

For me I use patience and keep eye on patchs for games with community market items. Sometimes ill make a bit of profit on that for giveaways, other times ill use the little expendable money i have left after bills to get one from humblebundle or something. The reason I give, is because im addicted to this site :) I have won games i might not have given a shot otherwise and have made friends with users on steamgifts. It at times felt like i was obligated too. But now its more that I want to share the happiness I have gained with members I feel deserve some love. TLDR just returning the love! :D Cannot say enough to describe the joy ive gained from the members of this site!

I have never spend money on a giveaway game, still i have 17 send gifts, maybe not AAA but still, i try to give something when i win. Be smart, sell cards and stuff and use earning sites for games

Consider this: Why do you enter to win games? You don't have free money to giveaway games. but do you then deserve free games without spending your hard earned money on them or giving anything back? Is it really right to just take, take, take without ever feeling the need to contribute yourself?

Some people don't think so. Winning a game makes them happy and they want to spread that feeling of "wohoo, I won a game!" to others.

I don't know, I like this site and I won some awesome games here (although two of them are unplayable). So one day I decided to giveaway something. Now, I don't own a credit card, and I don't have a job neither. But sometimes I get freebies games which drop cards, sometimes I sell/gamble my drops, and that's how I get a few dollars in my steam account. Then I just wait for a sale and buy some games to give away. It's not much, but it's what I can give to the site, as a humble thanks for the games I won here.
