But then they'd need different Steam accounts and at least 100$ worth of games on them. I don't think it'd profitable.

sometimes people just join steamgifts with free game + free weekend games like cod ghost/bo 2

Or they can just stock them up with cheapo games from Tremor Games to pad them.

I personally have only spent about $66 in actual cash on my account buying Elder Scrolls anthology, Borderlands 1 and 2 GOTY, and 2 bundle packs and my account is rated at over $600 according to the calculator on SteamCompanion. The rest of the stuff I have is games I bought from the tremor website and 2 giveaways from them.

If I had wanted to, I could have made me a minimum of 6 throwaway accounts. Not too hard.

Why would you even want multiple accounts? I mean it would require you to have another steam account with some amount of games in it (200$ worth I think?). Why would you want to split your library in different accounts?

.... oh wait ... Card farmers/traders etc do that, don't they?

Hum i trade and i only have one account.
Should i create another account ?

lol I dunno.... I'm not a trader or anything. I'm just trying to make some sense out of this myself. Only stating what I've noticed. No offense intended mate.

Only bundle games and free games would be profitable for card farmers. As far as account value is concerned, bundle games add the same value to a steam account much/exactly like CV is calculated.

From the FAQ:

Only one SG account allowed per person. Please do not share accounts.

I have another mate in my house that uses SG (we used to be 3 people here using). The three of us got banned, and we were required to take a pic with our usernames written on papers.

I don't see why it would not be allowed, in fact according to the rules, you should have separate accounts.

Might be worth telling support about it though, as multiple users from the same IP might get you in trouble.

Im pretty sure it says in the rules, right after the rule about multiple accounts, that if you have family or some other circumstance, to contact support about it BEFORE you become active/entering 100 giveaways a day etc.

Its possible but not allowed. People can claim free giveaway gifts for their second account, and get a 100 dollars in like a year.

Permalink

first I heard of this, sounds stupid.
the requirement was that your account is worth $100. if you choose to split up your games among multiple accounts, why not?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Because everyone is supposed to have an equal chance to win giveaways. That's why points are distributed the way they are. If you have two accounts, you've given yourself an unfair advantage over the rest of the community.

Bad idea to mark as received before you've used it. What if it doesn't work?

Permalink

It's possible that the game hasn't shown up on their list if they only recently activated. Steam can be kind of crap keeping up to date with other users' games.
Although that now appears to be not true in this case...

Also, in regards to your username, I'm wearing my Sarif Industries t-shirt at the moment.

Well in this case you shouldn't have marked it as received. You are supposed to mark as received once it is redeemed/activated and in your library.

So, what happens if you've got another steam account for vpn purposes, like playing or buying games that are restricted in germany or australia etc.? Obviously linked to a seperate sg account, not your "main" sg account.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you are caught, which SG has plenty of ways to catch you, then you and your account/s will be banned.
