xmas (mostly 24) is huge, here. being from the south, and xmas' eve being a "100% pure family stuff", i've always lived dec 24 as "The holiday" (not religious, btw).
new year's eve has always been a smaller, kinda boring, kinda "hey you gotta have fun now"... celebration. eagerly waiting for jan the 2nd :P
so, my answer is Food. Sugar, tons of it in every and each possible and edible way.
+juicy stuff, in your train (if you see something that looks like Miasmata... grab it!)
