I agree. I might have some once a week (I find its easier to eat healthy 6 days a week by allowing myself a "cheat day" of indulgence on forbidden foods), especially if I'm having pizza (best cheat day food) or something else where a good fizzy cola or a bottle of a microbrew root beer (Virgil's is amazing!) will complement the meal. Otherwise, I stay away from it, because its basically corn syrup and acid.

Research backs this up. Indulging makes it easier to stay straight on other things. Better to do it daily rather than weekly. You should read the truth about honesty. Has a chapter or two in it about that.
So I tend to indulge on dessert, or a soda, or pizza... So I can be more stringent at work or other aspects of diet and what not. Gives me more focus else where.
Also, find better soda, plenty of them use real sugars and acid is in most drinks.

I wouldn't imagine drinking one every day is a good thing. Maybe 4 times a week?

I like to take note of people that act in a manner that I find acceptable or adequate; it helps me in that sense to also know who I would not like to converse with as they may make me feel as though I am more stupid by just speaking with them.

When I was a kid my mother only allowed me to drink on weekends and on special occasions.

It has been proven that sugar is not a main cause of diabetes, but small factor.
They even stated that having to much sugar causes diabetes is a myth, but the sugar contributes towards obesity therefore increasing chances of diabetes.
Drinking a can or two of fizzy a day will not cause diabetes, if you don't sit around all day and are healthy.

Link please? Diabetes isn't proven to be caused by obesity or sugar or sugary drinks. However, it substantially linked to all three of those things. I personally know three people who have never been obese who have diabetes. Their doctors told them that their daily sugary soda intake was most likely to blame. Are you a doctor? If not, please substantiate your unusual claim that goes against popular belief and goes against my sources.

I always thought that it doesn't work that way. From what I can gather there's one type of diabetes that is caused by obesity, but I haven't been able to find any credible information on a direct link between sugar intake and diabetes.
The above is very much correct me if I'm wrong.

I always thought the main cause was your pancreas wearing out. Like it ages extra fast because it's in hyper drive constantly trying to convert the sugar into energy or fat never getting a break or many luls.(Too much sugar in your blood kills cells, ALL cells in your body have a chance to become victim).

There are several causes, one of them is you Pancreas not producing enough insulin that might be for many causes. Other types are caused by not enough response from your body to insuline levels and so on and so forth.
The pancreas does not convert sugar into anything (well it does) every single cell produces their own energy (but some brain cells) what it does is release insulin which activates the caption of glucose in several cells (I think it was those with Glut4 transporters, not really sure now though) Also stimulates the production of glucogen in the Liver.
Too much sugar in your blood does not kill cells per se. It does but it's more complicated than that. Having said that high levels of glucose blood levels are really bad and should be avoided.

I drink it every couple months/weeks....usually.
Its really pretty bad for you....isn't like one 8oz cup equel to like 8-12 sugar cubes? Thats to much to drink constantly Imo....

A lot of research shows that sugar substitutes are actually worse for you than sugar, as they are usually chemicals that the body is not designed to process and may also induce an insulin response.

I always drink soda and such, but my kids usually have juice or tea.

I have a caffeine addiction, so 3 cans a day, every day... Any less, and I get headaches (which can only be cured by headache medicine with caffeine)

Never cared for coffee, and I'd rather avoid taking caffeine pills. That'd probably be a slightly worse addiction :P

I get a nice glass bottled coke or pepsi 0,33 liters every evening. I don't drink any alcohol (28 years old and a dad, I just don't drink, smoke or do anything else) so this is my treat for the day. I enjoy it thoroughly.
