I personally don't mind implants as long as they look and feel like the real thing. Of course I'm talking about cybernetic implants. I hope you weren't thinking about something else PERV.

For the blue hearts link

Edit: So it seems someone's giving me a bit of drama in the Deus Ex giveaway comment section. Even acting pretty douchey about it. What do you guys think? Is he right about the custom rule part? Should I just delete the giveaway?

Edit 2: I've decided to delete the Deus Ex giveaway. I'm really sorry about that. I'll try to make another one when I figure out how to do the private group thing but I just didn't want to risk being punished for giving away a game. More than that I didn't want to give that asshole a chance at winning.

I won't delete the giveaway right away to give people some time to remove their entries and recover their points. I'll also make a giveaway for a different game later.

I'm just annoyed that one person, one unreasonable dickwad, managed to ruin the giveaway.

You know, I actually can't decide. On one hand, it makes software bugs potentially lethal. On the other hand, replacing a body part that's already damaged or failing seems like a great idea.

He's right, you can't make a custom rule like that. If you create the giveaway you are responsible for providing a working key.

Unfortunately you might not get the chance. I might have to delete the giveaway because some douchebag doesn't want to play nice.

Ah, I meant in real life. As for SGTools, you can definitely use any custom rule you want. Seen it many times. It's your GA. As for not coming through on a GA once it's over, you just have to be ready to get a "Not received".

If you don't mind (potentially) getting a Not Received, and don't mind a (potential) suspension, you can do it, but it's not a sustainable approach. Do it too many times, and you'll get a permanent suspension.

Edit: This is in relation to what you wrote in the GA description, for those missing context.

That's too bad. I would think that people who enter your giveaways would be more gracious and go along with your requests, even if it's not under the official rules. It's not originally my key so I can't guarantee that it'll work. That's all I'm saying. I don't wanna be punished for trying to do something nice. If it does work then you just won a nice game. If it doesn't work then what you have lost? Some free points? Is there a reason why he can't agree to delete the GA on the off-chance the key doesn't work, other than having a stick up his ass about the rules?

I think most users would agree to delete, especially if you write this in the GA description. There is however the risk that the winner will not agree, in which case the scenario I described will happen.

That would be an interesting dispute between two parties who clearly think themselves morally right and the other morally wrong.

I imagine blacklisting would intensify.

The way it's been done in the past, with the consent of support is to make whitelist only giveaways and everyone had to post agreeing to cancel any invalid givs in order to be added to that whitelist and enter the giv.
RedDevil_mm did it, I think.

What about all the people who are already in your whitelist? They can enter without agreeing first.

You clear the whitelist first...

But then I'd have to whitelist all of them again which is over 100 ppl. That doesn't seem very practical for me. Ugh I swear, one person ruins the whole thing.

I'm just saying how it was done once, not that you have to do it. You could also make a private group and invite people to it.

Highly doubt a suspension on first case
I've seen one who seems to get most/many ga keys from trading and had around 20 Not Receiveds and another bunch (likely 30+) deleted with agreement. But also 1500+ successful ones.

So one NR hit is likely if (if ! ) the winner doesn't give in, which I don't really think is such a great move when ga-maker doesn't show any malicious intent. But more won't happen, as long as stays within reasonably low amounts.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think it mostly depends on what the winner does. If he just marks as NR, then I agree. But if he creates a ticket and complain about a "fake giveaway", then I definitely think there's a risk of suspension.

Worth noting that all the following need to be true for this to happen: (1) the key needs to be bad, (2) the winner needs to be one who disagrees to delete the GA, and (3) the winner needs to report a "fake giveaway". All three can happen, but the odds are probably not very high.

risk of suspension

in the first case I'm pretty sure not. In repeated cases yes.

All three can happen, but the odds are probably not very high.

agree, but the only reason I know about the mentioned case is that at least 1&2 aren't so unlikely within few dozen cases ^^

You know, I'm honestly not sure. I've had cases in the past where someone has said something along the lines of "This key may or may not be valid, please only enter if you're willing to allow the GA to be deleted if you win and the key doesn't work." In one case I won one such giveaway where the key didn't work and being a nice guy allowed the creator to delete the giveaway.

Honestly though that one guy is just being a prick.

Technically you can't set that as a rule although it does seem to happen quite often. The most common use I have seen was people agreeing to delete a giveaway if it didn't work and then being invited to a group or a whitelist for the giveaway. I have no idea if that is a better approach or if it is still against the rules but it seems to have worked out better in the past.

Perhaps try that.

That guy already said he's refusing to delete the GA so I don't see how inviting him to a private GA is going to help, which I don't want to invite him anyways.

inviting him to a private GA

obviously not doing that but only those who agree to ;-)

But I'm indeed not sure if it works out if contested.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's not what I wrote. I have seen people have to agree to delete a giveaway if the key doesn't work and THEN once they have agreed they are then invited to the group/whitelist/whatever.

I hope that's clearer.

I'd like a body transplant. The entire thing is wrecked from illness. Still, I'm better off than many. Thanks for gibs.

On cybernetics, we are already adhering to certain undeniable principles each day, so in many ways we are no different than machines as it stands. What is natural? Is it all just some digital illusion - like... I'm a copy of something implanted here and watched, like a hologram? Do I think? Or is it just my perception of thoughts?

That guy isn't really an indication of how most people are, but he is technically right. He doesn't gain anything by not agreeing to delete if the key doesn't work, and neither do you, so I can't understand his point of view. Safe option is delete it now, but the chances of him winning are very small

a bit of drama

have seen whole threads for "not sure if keys were used" with custom rule like your - and support was fine with them. Probably you should ask support member/mod about it. Many users like to judge and act like all-knowing while they have no power here xD although some might blacklist you for that but fuck them xD

Hmm then I'm getting conflicting answers. Others have said you can't make that rule. So I don't know what to think.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The rule is that what you give away you have to deliver.
If the guy doesn't agree to delete, you get a "not received" mark and that's it.
As long as it doesn't happen often you are fine.

If you're collecting opinions then here's mine. There are many ways to give away a key that you are not sure works from dropping it into an Orphan key thread to Making a thread and having a bunch of persons comment something or figure out a puzzle or whatever and putting numbers into a generator to select a winner Shrug. Thats how /I/ would do a giveaway for a key I am not sure works. I had a whole thread once gave away a dozen keys like that or something. And there's really no reason to put them into actual giveaways unless I just REALLY wanted to boost my CV a bit which is a selfish motivation, but one I assume most persons would go for.

If you're maintaining the giveaway I would be prepared to either accepted a not received or to replace the key if it in fact does not work. Basically, I don't want to see you give up on giving it away since you seem like you want to. You made a whole thread for it and even dealt with the devil (SGTools) to exclude whatever types of persons you chose. You clearly WANT to give it away. So give it away. One way or another anyway. Whether or not you use SG mechanics is up to you. I personally wouldn't, though.

Exactly. Which is why /I/ wouldn't toss it into an orphan thread. What I did was make a thread listing the games I had to giveaway and i let persons comment and I gave it to the first that asked. They weren't $60 games though. If they were I probably would have held more of a raffle.
