Registering to Steamgifts

So one of my friends wanted to register here, but the account value calculator acts really weird, from time to time it goes from $80 to $10 and so on, so he can't enter the site... what could be the reason?

Really don't like that 100$ reg requirement. Of course there needs to be something to prevent people from just signing up a few thousand times and farming the GAs with bots, but there should be a more reasonable way.

Again, just like for CV values - I really really don't see why a bundled game has to be 0 value. I paid a dollar for it, let it be worth that damn dollar at least. Concerning CV I'd suggest 0.25 CV per bundled game instead of 0.00 and concerning the reg value I'd say every bundled game still should be worth $1.00 (yes even Fortix (as a major exception ;))). Owning 100 bundled games IS the same has owning games worth 100$, especially since those games are usually also only bought with 50% or even 75-80% discount (during steam sales or from retailer deals).

it's not zero cv for bundle games. there's some formula i don't remember

it's 25% but only to a max of what you bought of non bundled stuff of. and that non bundled stuff will eventually become bundled and then retroactively removed from your cv. If you don't own a lot of expensive games bundles stuff is worth 0 cv. And it shouldn't be.

Sometimes you do. There have been times when people have gotten full credit for a game giveaway and then the site administrators have reduced the value of that game retro-actively beyond a certain previous date because the price of the game had gone down and the system hadn't been updated to account for that.

if it hasn't been updated than it's not retroactively. retroactively would be before it's been bundled/glitched/etc.

I believe it is something like it won't count fully towards your cv if it's more than 20% of your current CV at the time of making the givewaway. I'm really not too clear on that. And I think it won't let you stack bundle games towards your CV beyond that either. I think you have to give away a non-bundle game to "reset" the penalty or else it might stop counting towards your cv at all beyond a certain point.

Again, I'm really not too sure about this. I have read the faq briefly but I have never sat down and actually tried to work it out exactly.

The amount you paid was for th ewhoel bundle.. giving you 1$ CV for each game would give you more than you spent :P
