You find a genie in a bottle, but he's a special genie, he only deals in language wishes. So he will grant you instant fluency in any language of your choice, along with accent of your choice if applicable. You will be able to speak it, read it, write it, as if you were a native speaker.

It has to be a real language on Earth, no fake ones. No Klingon or Dwarvish or anything like that.

And before you complain that such-and-such language isn't in the poll keep in mind that I can only have 20 options. I googled to find the languages with the most number of speakers. But I also grouped some together, such as languages of India. I included an option for "Other" if the one you want isn't one of the poll options, but make sure you read over every option first because there are some "others" that are specific to a region of the world. Feel free to list it in the comments if you want.

No potato option. No giveaway. This is just to see what other people would choose because I'm curious.

English, Chinese, Hindu/Urdu and Spanish. I think that covers the highest percentage of the population of earth. And since I can already kinda speak 2 of them, only 2 to go!

Obviously, I'd pick a language that doesn't use the Latin alphabet, like: Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Russian, Thai. Because I already know perfect English, I'm pretty good with both French and Spanish and any other language that does use the Latin alphabet is relatively easy to learn compared to those that don't, even the Germanic languages. I'd probably pick Japanese, though, because Japan is an absolutely AWESOME country and I plan to at least visit it once in my life-time, even though Mandarin would be the more obvious choice, given that it's the most spoken language in the world.

Chinese, it's of more use than japanese, also I had 4 semesters of japanese already (forgot it partly already because of not using it) and the hardest most annoying part is learning the chinese symbols (Kanji), which would be easier if you know Chinese.

I'd probably choose Japanese for gaming although Chinese and Russian would also be tempting. They aren't really the most useful languages I could learn (for me personally) but I think it would be the only way I'd ever learn a language that isn't based on the latin alphabet.

I still hold out hope that someday I'll finish learning either Spanish or German, both of which I took in Highschool and/or College =p

Japanese because I have friends there and its cool
Russian so I can reply to all of the bloody Russians on DotA

I think Japanese is the clear winner on a gaming site that primarily speaks English. Those two languages get the huge majority of early and exclusive releases. Other languages are much more likely tend to either be released simultaneously with the English version, later, or not at all.

Arabic; it's a very hard language with very hard grammar; it takes years upon years to perfect, and even then it is not perfect.
