Hi guys. I recently bought an OUYA that arrived today.
I'm pretty happy with it and fully satisfied since it emulates everything I want: SNES, Mega Drive, Master System, MAME, N64, PSX, PSP and others... But I see that it has a limited android version with no Play Store (Google). Considering that I do bought it just for emulate old consoles (I'm not looking for android experience, but only gaming), I was wondering what benefits I could have with root and cyanogenmod install (and eventually a better kitkat android rom), BUT I'm still not sure.
Do anyone have an OUYA modded? What benefits you got? Does it get faster? Bugs? Do emulators from OUYA store will keep working? Any advices?

To be honest, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. No idea on what you're asking but have a bump for visibility :)

Assuming it can be rooted and there are custom roms, those roms are way more customizable and root access is handy for some apps. Even if there is no game store, you might still be able to install .apk files. The downside is that on paper, flashing and rooting can brick your device (in practise it's very unlikely if you follow the steps correctly) and that your warranty is completely gone. You could though get your warranty back by installing the basic rom and unrooting.
But in your case, if the base version does every single thing you want, why root in the first place?

I was trying to figure out if rooting it and installing another ROM will bring me something AMAZING like hidden menus of MK3 xD
I think I'll have to discover it by myself (after warranty is over). :O

There are certainly some benefits to running a rooted system. Not enough to make Dolphin run on your machine, of course, but push something like a PSP emulator into the realm of possibility? Maybe. Oh, you can also use your machine as a youtube/twitch streaming box, and newer version of Twitch actually requires newer Android.
