GTA 4 is returning to Steam and previous owners get the new Complete Edition for free

From the store page:

Starting 03/19/2020, Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition will replace both Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City. Depending on the game, players on Steam will need to install or update their current game:

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City will be removed and replaced with GTAIV: Complete Edition in the launcher library. Update file size is expected to be approximately 22GB.

Grand Theft Auto IV owners will download content from Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City and their game will update to GTAIV: Complete Edition. Update file size is expected to be approximately 6GB. 

So even owners of only Episodes from Liberty City will get the base game for free, since everything is being replaced with a single thing. At least that's what it seems like. Not bad, and while the multiplayer will no longer work and a radio station is being removed (temporarily), this seems like a great trade off. Also, NO MORE GFWL.

That would be awesome, played the old GFWL version with Microsoft points and would happy finish it again with Steam achievements.
But they dont want to distract people from gta v.. we probably dont will get something that fresh.

I kind of hope they don't. Some of the online achievements were a pain in the ass to get on console, doing them again with an even smaller online population would be hell.

If they are going to add achievements, I hope they are different from the ones on console or they leave out the online ones completely.

EDIT: I just found out that multiplayer mode will be scrapped completely. So only the story mode will be available to play.

So it looks like we will be getting Steam Achievements if this is anything to go by.

Could go with a comprehensive option of "Grand Theft Auto IV being relisted. Free Complete Edition upgrade for GTAIV, Episodes owners." Definitely have to agree that the previous thread title was easily ignorable and clickbaity, though.

This is nice. Never played the DLC even though I had it.I loved playing the base game. Hope for Achievements so I can replay the game again from start up to the DLC.

Looks like the base game already has achievements added, but as I understand from their post on Steam you can get them only after update..

Havent played it for some time, looks like this will be a great chance to go at it again and get me some achievements

Fantastic. I recently completed Episodes from Liberty City, and was kinda bummed out I was missing out on the base game. I gave up on it at time of release on the xbox, but always wanted to go back and see how it ended for the protagonist.

Considering the Complete Edition used to go on sale for ~$5, no it's not worth it. You should question yourself: why I want it now for $10 when I never purchased it when it used to be $5?
