I hope "playing" those event games like that, doesn't get me in trouble, like getting a VAC ban or something? It sure feels like cheating. But then again, I really don't want to download and install all those games on my secondary account. Also, do you happen to know how to send those ASF commands to my main account (sending them via steamchat to the other account configured as "bot", works well, but I can hardly chat with myself)?

!play [bot instance] [appID]
If you haven't setup your main account in ASF, then start with that. For example, I've named my main account "Main" and my alt "AltDragon" - If I want to send a command to my own account, I do !play Main 34900
and for my alt account, I simply replace "Main" with "AltDragon".

i tried so hard but still haven't figured out yet, where to enter the commands?

I certainly won't explain in details how ASF works, there's a wiki for that. :P
You send these messages to your bot instances on Steam. Just follow the step-by-step instructions from the wiki, and read up on the commands.

Works like a charm, thanks. I also had to set "ShutdownOnFarmingFinished: false", in order prevent ASF from disconnecting my main account again, as there's no cards to farm. Still wondering if this isn't considered cheating, but it it sure comes in handy, as I recently had to replace my harddrive and I consequently don't have many games installed.

To chat with yourself you have to create private steam group, then configure your bot .json - https://github.com/JustArchi/ArchiSteamFarm/wiki/Configuration#bot-config - SteamMasterClanID, SteamUserPermissions and SteamOwnerID are important. Then just start ASF, enter your grop chat and use commands talking to yourself.

Yeah, well, keep in mind that "Khalaq" was my second account. My first one (2003) was VAC-banned due to my being hacked.

Maybe the USA got Half-Life 2 a few days sooner or I activated it a few days later. ;D

This looks good!
Surprisingly nice change to steam, and encourages more clearing of backlogs :')

I don't think it will clear any backlog, we'll just DL the game, and idle it for a second then move on :D
but I might be more of a barrel dweller than most :p

Yes, ASF works for both the Daily tasks and the Projects

!play accountname gameID
for example:
!play *accountname* 255710
will start playing Cities: Skylines
!resume
or !resume asf
to start normal farming again.

Hi, i try this and work, but not for the first trophy (speed clean)
any idea?
Comment has been collapsed.
The only one's ASF didn't work on for me (yet) was two of the three daily tasks: Speed Clean and Spin Cycle
Comment has been collapsed.
To do Speed Clean using ASF you need to add the game (license) first.
Using Dead by deadlight
!addlicense ASF 381210
!play ASF 381210
:)

The first event after a lot of years that i am really excited. Lets clean our backlogs:)

Interesting tasks on paper but playing 21 games in 5 days seems rather pointless to me

I used to play more games at the same time, but the result was that I would almost never finish anything, so now I try to stick to 3 (so I can easily track their progress just looking at my profile).
I still want to get everything so I think I'll do a bit of both playing and cheating. But I hope there are more games eligible than what they actually show, the lists are much shorter than what they should actually be.

Did Cities: Skyline count for the free trial game as you already own it ? Hope I can do Castle Crashers for it another day then since I wanted to play this soon.
For daily tasks at least it looks like you can't just play any game that meets the requirement. I've started a game I never played before and it didn't unlock that.
Slayaway Camp is fun though that's one of those games that I didn't finish, so I'm sure the Friday the 13th spin-off is fun as well

Yeah that's too bad, I just played a game I hadn't played in over a year and it didn't unlock it, so it seems it's both for daily and one-time tasks

Well, already unlocked 3 inadvertently while trying to cheat on the free trial one since I'm not interested in that, launching Aviary Attorney that I already finished recently unlocked game bought in last 6 months, game recommended by a friend and game recommended by a curator.

That's a bit off-topic to my comment. :P
I was saying, they were asking us to download a significant number of games, and simply load them up, rather than basing it off of actual playtime on a smaller number of games. Either method can be circumvented via 3rd-party software, so that's completely irrelevant. The point is that Valve seems less interested in getting us to play games, and more in getting us to download and install them.
Given that a "playing" approach is not only thematically better, but less demanding on those with limited internet speed, bandwidth, or HD space, it comes across a bit awkward. If we related it to your point, it seems to be encouraging 3rd-party software use more than a play-based approach would.

High chance if you install the game and start it, even before the game really starts it already counts for Steam.
For me I did Cities because it's much smaller and it counted right after I clicked Play and it didn't even show up on my screen yet ^^
Comment has been collapsed.
No, it only counts if Steam can actually start the game up, if it gives an error before it can even launch it doesn't work, but lets say you click Play even though the game can't work for you but it still tries to start the game without an error right away, that might work.
It was just a guess because I never had that problem.

Try the one from here:

Im using this one with this bat file below: Here's how to idle a SPECIFIC GAME through Idle Master
works perfectly.. :)

My problem is that I don't like to mess up my BLAEO Games played this month page. :(
Not sure what to do.

Had to look up "tipex." *blush* We call it Whiteout, although apparently that's just a brand name for the generic term, "correction fluid."
And I wish I could to that BLAEO page!

Yes, I have to imagine the Steam download servers are taking a beating...
I'm pretty sure my first game added to Steam is still installed (or at least one of them is).

so you can forget about the event after a while.
Or at least, you'll try and forget.
But more and more as time goes on, you'll find yourself waking in cold sweats, thinking of what you missed out on.
It'll slowly creep into your daily life, leaving every moment one of anxiety and depression.
You'll become bitter and withdrawn, seeking solace in substance abuse.
Slowly, you realize there's only one solution- Kill Gabe Newell.
Well, that or dedicate yourself to building a functional time-machine-
But let's focus on less absurd contemplations.
But wait! There's an alternative consideration.
Take out all your stress, without the mess!

Well, it looks like it's pretty easy to get the Level 1 badge. I might even be able to get it without doing anything I wouldn't have otherwise done. I seldom try to achieve more than Level 1 of these events.

The first game on my account was Portal 2. Couldn't ask for a better game to go back and play for the event.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm guessing you're not the only one in that situation. Portal, Portal 2, Half-Life, etc. probably lead the pack. Not me, though.
Comment has been collapsed.
Half-Life 2 was my first Steam key, which I guess will be a common situation.
