Some pricey things those removed games tend out to be once they get, well, removed. Going high as a grand, some titles like Wolfenstein 2009 and Juiced 2 are quite a collector's dream at this point.

However, not every removed game is in that situation and more titles are becoming "purchasable" by us, common folk, by day thanks to grey market sites. I made this topic so I and everyone can list removed games sold in G2A, Kinguin and everywhere else in a good quantity for a good price. Alongside, lets list restrictions, recommendations to purchase those and whatever more we can.

Here's a current table of what removed games from Steam can be purchasable and their restrictions:

Here's this for some help ;)
Removed Steam Game Tracker

Also this group has a bunch of resources amd helpful people trying to find or trade them.

Also gamestop and amazon are great resources if you live in the US. Can easily get Ghostbusters, Fable 3, Cabela's games, etc.If you really want to embrace the sketchy factor, Plati.Market is usable. Be careful of region locks though.

Amazon can be quite a hit or miss depending on the game, especially those who used GFWL. But another source is always a welcome one.

Really useful, thank you. I didn't list HRK because I had two purchases with them and both had problems. Will add a note though.

Yup. My first purchase was Resident Evil 0 I think, invalid key. Then Red Faction Guerrilla which was an used key. I got replacement in both cases but it took about 2 weeks each too. Real bummer.

ps I don't live in the US, I did see it on Amazon US in cd-rom form but they won't deliver to my country. Ideally I'd like a Steam key anyway.

Yes, someone else mentioned that, but I am afraid I am old and have no idea or interest in all these new things that keep springing up like discord. It's like talking chat rooms, isn't it? No thanks. I bought it on kinguin.

I will ask that question gain...
can you get banned for using vpn to activate a key ?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Using a VPN to bypass regional restrictions or pricing restrictions is a violation of the SSA and can result in a permanent account suspension

"You agree that you will not use IP proxying or other methods to disguise the place of your residence, whether to circumvent geographical restrictions on game content, to purchase at pricing not applicable to your geography, or for any other purpose. If you do this, Valve may terminate your access to your Account." Steam Subscriber Agreement

can you get banned for using vpn to activate a key ?

Yes, you can. It's a violation of Steam TOS. The real question is, will you? I have seen people using it for 2, 3 years now and with popular games (Monster Hunter World, Resident Evil 7) and I never saw someone who actually got banned for it. Fallout 4 was a popular case of VPN manipulation to access the game earlier who also ended in mostly people going unbanned.

My advice is, feel free to activate a russian game now and then, but don't do it frequently, that's how I and a couple of people that I know go.

Ive seen a few traders lose their accounts so I'm staying as far away from that as possible. Odds of being caught are probably small but not worth the gamble at all to save $20 or get a +1 for a removed game.

Fair enough.

I did my fair share of trading, and I've never seen anyone get banned/restricted except for russian traders who sold cheap russian copies. Never any other trader, and certainly never because of game activation via VPN. At least to my knowledge. So, for what exactly did those people you talk about get banned?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Hey KillingArts :)

They claimed it was for batch redeeming a whole bunch on a vpn in a short amount of time. Even if it was for some other reason or they just happened to be caught because of a high volume, I've just stayed away from it.

Interesting. Never heard that before. I guess it makes sense, though. I've only used VPN on rare occasions. Mainly with games that are cut or not available in Germany. Guess that'll still be fine.

Suggestion:
Don't use it while playing, because you risk getting noticed. Instead wait 90 days after activation until the IP lock is gone.
Don't use it to buy for regional lower prices in the Steam store.
If at all, use it for activations (if you can't get it otherwise). Using browser instead of client in this case might also help, since there are more reasons to use VPN within a browser and Valve may not punish it directly if noticed.

Depends. If you're living in the EU - no. EU law scritly prohibits Valve's ToS so they won't do anything. As a German, I had to activate lots of keys to get uncensored games and thus far - after 4k+ games - nothing ever happened.

There are currently a few hundred removed games that have sources, whether legitimate sources like the humble store or sources like g2a/kinguin. Maintaining a list of sources that include sites like G2A/Kinguin will be impossible long term because the availability will constantly change and could disappear at any time.

Also note that Fast & Furious: Showdown is still available for purchase in most countries.
