Hi SG

I just got a message from Steam saying a key that i activated has been revoked (can be seen here http://i.imgur.com/yDpjTmv.png)

The key was originally from a bundle that i brought on IndieGala the 25. December during their christmas sale on their bundles (i brought all their bundles and activated them that day http://i.imgur.com/f0dYdy1.png)

Have anyone else that have experienced this?

Edit: it was from the Mixcellaneous Bundle

Yup, just gotten that. Was searching around to see if it was just me. No idea why this is happening though.

Yup, same happened to me. Hope IndieGala fixes it, these kind of practice from Steam are simply not acceptable since they're used mainly by scammers. Must be the publisher recalling it, which they shouldn't be able to do to as long as it's paid for by users.

Why shouldn't they be able to? If a scammer stole the keys or recalled the payment later, why is it unacceptable to allow the keys to be revoked? In this case the publisher is wrong as they're revoking valid keys and it shouldn't have happened but that doesn't mean that the feature is a bad one.

Quite right. Indie Gala got some explaining to do though, and it better be a good answer if they want to save face. I'm not affected but I see something like this and it makes me question their credibility. The same goes for the publisher of the game too.

Now that DIG keys are also getting revoked, I think blame is likely outside IG... Groupees or dev that is...

Wow, messed up situation. Allow me to play devil's advocate and speculate for a minute. Could it be that the publisher (Groupees apparently) has covertly engaged in unethical (and possibly even illegal) anti-competitive practices?? I wouldn't put it past them at this point given what I've seen from them. It's the kind of lame shit we have seen some companies pull in the past (like Microsoft, Apple).

Yes, the publisher is to blame, but let's be clear: this IS a scam, it doesn't matter that they're publisher or key reseller or whatever, people paid for it.

There is NO legal reason why this should be allowed. Imagine paying for a smartphone, and then someone from the store -forcibly- taking back the smartphone EVEN if they refunded you since a contract is a contract.

But in the example I'm using you wouldn't be buying from the store, you would be buying from a shady guy on the street. Not always easy with physical objects, but for example if you bought a stolen car without doing proper research and it turns out it's stolen the car would be recovered by the cops and returned to the original owner ([One source] I found, third paragraph, it's from South Africa but I think it works like that everywhere). It's awful as you might end up losing the money, but that's why you have to be very careful when buying from not official markets.

In this case that's not what's happening as the purchases are from official stores, so it's wrong in this case. But it's definitely legal to revoke keys if they were acquired from illegal means. And let's be clear revoking keys acquired by illegal means would NOT be a scam.

but if you trade with some trader (potential scammer/thief) not from official store it's whole different story from what you say. If you buy a phone, car, shoes, whatever from private person and it turn out to be stolen goods - the goods are taken from you and returned to original owner. And that's LEGAL way how it works. You can if you wish go on legal way and demand compensation from person who sold you stolen goods, but nonetheless they are removed from your posesion. So yeah - even if you paid for a smartphone if it was stolen police will forcibly take it from you, no matter if you signed a contract buying it. If you did then you can go with that contract to court and demand monetary refund from person who sold it to you.

well, indiegala answer my ticket:

Hi,
Seemingly the developer removed all the keys from all the Stores and we are waiting for his answer.
As soon as he gets back to us we will make an announcement on the site.
Thank you.

Same happend to me but I really cannot figure out were I got my key from (I hate the fact they don't send email about it or tell you what product code was used?), it was the same date.. But I have not bought the Indiegala bundle neither did I win it here.
Got worried at first since i've given away this game but those keys were from DIG so shouldn't affect the winners I hope.
Sucks to see that red screen though, hope to not have to experience that again :)

I heard that they are retiring Days Under Custody from the market because it harms people's moral. Several cases of fans kidnapping random people have already been reported to the autority. They don't know how long this crisis will endure, so please stay at home and far from your fellow gamers.

I don't have this game, but this is weird. I hope it's not another case of "developer went mad because of small earnings and recalled all the bundled keys before committing steamicide."
