There are quite a few museums near this station, many are situated at the Museumpark. Listing a few: Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Netherlands Architecture Institute, Chabot Museum, Kunsthal, Natural History Museum Rotterdam.

In 2012, seven paintings were stolen from the Kunsthal by Romanian thieves. All paintings (worth at least 18 million euros) were burned by the thieves.

Kees Moeliker, director of the Natural History Museum Rotterdam won the Ig Nobel Prize for biology for his study of homosexual necrophilia in ducks.
