pretty much this. daily deals or even unlocked deals doesn't mean shit - some games get just few cents bigger discount than they did, and some stay at same discount just get featured on main page.

I think Valve is having one of their famous "experiments". This time everyone acts like an asshole and see if people are buying it. Looks like it's working, as Valve and Rockstar pulled quite an ass move and their sells are going through the roof. Nothing illegal but highly criticizable behavior.
