What did you win, if anything?

What's your tactics to make sure you win?

I'm in line to maybe, potentially, if all goes well, win something in round 10 or so... let's see how that goes :-)

Update: pulled my gems out and sold 1k yesterday, and just put another 1k on the market, I'm left with 122 gems now... meaning I didn't win, and will not win, but would've won if I had left my 2k on the game I was originally bidding on (Prophour23, wishlisted).

I see lots of you were luckier, or just simply better at it. It's amazing what you guys are winning! :-)

Aerofly FS for 6200gems. No money spent, just useless crap sitting in inventory.

I got Gunhound EX for 3000 (£0.90 and the game is £10.99) and will likely take another few games by the end :) I could force it, but no need. I am willing to pay 10% of original value tops. I got all my gems at the start, no price hike, so I value them at 0.03 for 100 as that's what I paid . I did buy 5 sacks of gems for 0.50, but only because I knew the prices would fly up and look they already have :) sold 2 already, keeping the other 3 to see how high it may go.

Nothing as of yet; the game I'm going for is constantly getting sniped at the last second, and I don't have the gems to outsnipe the snipers :(

Glad I bought 50 csgo backgrounds for 3 euros. Turned them into expensive boosterpacks and made about 12 euros.
Doesnt work anymore though, prices plummeted

Just got Schein for 1450. That was everything I had and I'll not be bidding for anything else.

Bought 1 sack and trashed my dupe emotes/backgrounds. Lowest ever price was apparently $3.59 on GOG, I think I did ok. Actually had that game on my secret santa wishlist in one of the groups I'm in - will have to change it now!

I'm looking only for less-known indie games where the gem bids won't be so riddiculously high. So I won:

  • Escape Goat 2 for 3301 gems
  • Dead Man's Draw for 1225 gems
  • Monomino for 1201 gems

EDIT: Escape Goat 2

So you threw away 5$ of gems for a game you could buy with like 2 ref?

Not sure which game have you thought about getting for 2 ref but probably Escape Goat... I've made a mistake while typing, I meant Escape Goat 2.

All those games (Escape Goat 2, Dead Man's Draw and Monomino) haven't been bundled, right?

apparently it's called Dawn of Magic 2 here. why two different names for the same game in different regions? :|

just saw a wikipedia article, that explains a lot* :/
odd naming practices indeed, and seems like both have different appid numbers and different number of reviews lol

*a lot being the fact that it's named differently in america as opposed to why

Got Bionic Heart 2 for 1915 gems.

I've had plenty of money in my Steam wallet for months now, so my tactic was to buy sacks of gems before the auction started and get myself to the point of being above #50 in bids. I spent a few bucks of my wallet funds stash and may end up with $75 worth of games that would likely end up costing at least $30 during the sale.

I kinda feel for the devs though, what in the heck are they getting out of this for giving all those copies of their games?

Edit: And now add Pivvot + Soundtrack for 1006 gems
Edit2: And now Shadows on the Vatican for 802 gems and Fading Hearts for 5434 gems

just won trace vector for 1037 gems :) (about $1.10 in my currency)

thanks to whoever suggested that earlier in this thread!
was harbouring thoughts of entering for McDROID since 2000+ gems was about 85% discount but chickened out of buying another 1k+ gems, i think that's all i'll be bidding on since i'm now out

I was looking at that too but 1450 was all I had and I've spent it now. Probably could've got tt if waiting more rounds. I'm going to buy it in the sale instead.

hopefully he does, reviews of that scale will generally turn me away, I usually avoid anything with worse than mixed reviews(if in the thousands).. I might consider negatives after video reviews if there is a small review pool(I have seem people vote negative because it was just wayyy to hard)

Ok, I decided to join the auction ;)
Practically changed all my uncool backgrounds and emoticons for gems so I consider these games freebees.
Unrest 2700
A Golden Wake 2300
Spectre 1160
The Masterplan 4300
Shadowrun Online: Deluxe Package 5050
Stained 1060
Gold Rush Anniversary 2600
The Blue Flamingo 1250
Cargo 3 3500
Prices are going up now, more people awake I guess ;)

yeah that's because I started using this account again in October this year so no shit that I haven't got much on this one :P I purchased my first game on this account October 10th or something. Used another account for a long time because I lost the passw for this one and my other acc was a shared one and I usually played on my 360 then bc most of my friends were on that, so yeah.

Also I have duplicate cards etc. but I'm not trading them, idk why but I just don't. Also I'm not gonna buy that shit on the steam market it's a waste of my money, if I don't get it by playing games ok too bad but not much of a loss. I'd rather spent my money on games.

Our Darker Purpose for 3200 Gems ($4 given the exchange rate of Gems at the time of the auction's end)
McDroid for 2300 Gems (Essentially $2.88)

I considered buying a few thousand gems when they were at $.75/1k yesterday, but didn't think they would rise over 50 cents in a day.

Add The Last Tinker to the list. Used up my remaining 2600 gems on this (Exchange rate makes it about $3.25)
