Steam Gems Auction - what did you win?

Soo, I was weak minded and decided to spend around $1 for Auction Winner Badge :(

Last pre-Xmas, GabeN let me auction a game, but the very next few minutes I gave it away :)

Offspring Fling, since I dont own the game and had trading cards, was the best choice for me, 1k Gems from unused backgrounds, easy win easy life.

I won:
Broken sword 4 + 5, 3DMark, MotoGP13, Knock knock and Rise of the triad ^_^

I was thinking of bidding on some games later on to get that badge, so I bought some CS:GO cards to craft, cost like 40 cents for 5. I craft the first badge, I get a background and a emoticon selling for like 10 cents each and I also get a the holiday sale card which was like 20 cents. So no loss no gain, cept the free 100 xp and cs:go badge which i really don't care for, I resell all of it get back my 40 cents and go buy 5 more CS:GO card. Craft that, I get a background and emoticon but also a FOIL card! So now I'm up like nearly a DOLLAR. What luck.

How the hell does this auction thing work? They choose the biggest bid ATM of the end of an auction or they just randomly pick a winner?

Just won Magic 2015 kinda just wanted the badge on winning a game lol hope the DLC gets a nice cut soon

3 Stars of Destiny is 9.40USD(419.95PHP) here in the PH, 14.99 USD in the US and 18.85 USD(11.99 Euro) in EU.

I won it using 1222 Steam Gems or a 32 PHP(0.72 USD or 0.573 Euro) equivalent, having a 92.38% discount.

So far, I won:

• Nearwood Collector Edition (1000 gems)
• Polarity (1500 gems)
• Magnetic By Nature (2000 gems, cards are really expensive xD, sold one for 50 cents already :P)
• See No evil (1600 gems)
• Brink of Consciousness Dorian Grey Collector Edition (1000 gems)

Was not sure at first but auctions are amazing... Traded some of my games in my inventory for some gems... Profit and I get to play games I wanted to play for weeks now :)

I was able to win Invisible, Inc / Clockwork Tales: of glass and ink / Majestic Nights season pass / and Memento Mori 2 for 16,400 gems. I paid like 7 dollars for the gems (bought a ton of 4 cent items and made them all into 100 gems early on, then made some boosters to push a slight profit when the sacks came back around 60 cents.), and the games are 71 dollars or so at full price. So I saved like 90% on them.

I wonder how much in fees developers are losing from all of the scrapped items. Although I suppose items sitting around for $0.03 and not selling don't do anyone any good, but a ton of emoticons/backgrounds/cards have been removed from the economy.

I entered the auction for BRAINPIPE: A Plunge to Unhumanity just to see my name as top bidder. Highest bid was 700, I bid 900...

TIL highest bids can't be cancelled.

I won 4,25 euros from 5000 gems ... EH.

Gray Matter for 1651. Waited for the last 5 sec and outbid the top bidder by 1 gem.
When bidding keep in mind that Steam will always take your bid up by 50 gems if possible so if you see a number that does not end in zero you can be 100% sure that that is the top bidder's max offer.

Won Void Destroyer for 3K gems, damn profit.
