well ... since november 378h. had done wheelspin farming before it was completly destroyed after updates. in general i enjoy driving in this game, racing only with friends, ai obviously cheats at higher difficulty. landscape is beautiful but got some really bad graphic bugs. the car list got smaller if you compare it to fh4 and some cars are just variety of the same car. would wish that they got together or as a preset or something like this. if you are unsure if the game suits you, may consider a month of game pass or something of this sort

I generally have a rule that I should never buy expensive games, because there are so many incredible cheap games on steam and it's always worth waiting a while for the price to come down. But... occasionally I can't resist, and break my rule.
The last time I remember doing so was splashing out a little to buy Evil Genius 2 on day of release. Do I regret it? Well...

Well, not necessarily a steam purchase but the pre-order for NFS Heat when it was first announced.
I was so hyped for the game to release just to realize that the drift mechanics felt so weird and my shitty PC at the time could barely run it at the lowest setting on 30FPS (lol). What's worse is that I only played the game for a few days before getting fed up with how badly it ran before leaving it to collect digital dust, which basically meant that I might as well should just wait for when it inevitably goes on sale for 70 goddamn percent off on Steam only 1 year after release with the DLCs all included as that is around the time I started playing again. Not the most expensive purchase I've ever made I guess (I've spent more on some other games...looking at you, CSGO and League lol), but it is pretty "expensive" in that it really made me regret the purchase. On a brighter side, this is what sealed the deal for me to never pre-order anything ever again.
Completely unrelated to the topic but an interesting story with NFS Heat--when I logged back on to my Origin account again it appeared to be hacked by some Russian dude, but everything--the email, password, etc--remained the same, and the person who hacked my account did not touch any other of my Origin games EXCEPT FOR NFS Heat where he tossed in 300+ hours playing it (I had about 12 hours of playtime before quitting the game in 2019 lol). When I started up NFS Heat, the person who hacked my account has basically every single vehicle in the game and had maxed out everything with some modding tools, which made my life easy. However I didn't play the game at all and I want the full experience so I wiped the data and started all over again. To this day I still feel kinda bad to not only completely change my Origin account's password but also delete 300+ hours of his saved data, even though I am the one who got hacked hahahaha

Need for speed has been a dear series for me in my youth. I wan to play the most recent ones from Need from Speed until today. I've never been a fan of the Shift ones. I liked the basic story behind it and the police chaces. It was a good time for me as a kid playing NFS Most Wanted, Carbon, Undercover and Underground 2.

You made someone else enjoy your game. Totally worth it! He should have e-mailed you and say thanks! 🤣 If only hackers would hack accounts to play your games and not actually sell it and make profit of of it. That's an amazing story never the less.

Oh please don't let me discourage you from playing Heat just because of my experience with it when it released! I actually played it again when I got a better PC and it was an awesome game! I definitely prefer the older gen's "cheesy" and purest form of cop vs street-racer NFS titles like Most Wanted, but the new and unique cop system introduced in Heat is also very good, and it has a decent-enough storyline for me to not get bored hahaha. I am only complaining about the price because it wasn't really that good when it first launched imo, and my computer was too crappy to run it.
And with the hacker -- I completely agree hahahaha, if only all the hackers would hack accounts just to play your games that they don't have. I was so surprised that nothing was changed nor went missing besides the fact that he spent hundreds of hours playing NFS Heat on the account loool

Oh don't worry! Everybody has the right to have opinions about the game. I've played games that weren't recommended by friends on my Steam account and I personally liked it, so I have given it a positive rating. I'm not sure if I'll buy the games or maybe use an EAPlay pass to play the series.

Most I ever spent on a video game in a one-time payment was the Limited numbered Collector's Edition for Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO) including a lifetime membership. If my memory serves me right i paid ~250 Euros for it in 2007.
LotRO was a subscription based MMORPG (it is still running and is Free to Play for quite some time) and monthly subscription price was equal to WoW, thus 15 Euros for a monthly sub or 12 Euros per month if you sub for six months in advance. Simple math was: If I play the game for more than 20,8 months (250 / 12), thus for a little less than 2 years, I would save money.
I played it vigorously for 18 months, so in the end I lost a little bit of money. But it was all worth it and I never had any regrets.
Game I spent the most on in total is World of Warcraft. Those subs add up quickly oO

I gotta admit, as a LotR fan, I would have probably made such an sacrifice and get one too. It's a shame the game is so outdated at this point. If only a newer version would come out, I'm pretty sure fans of the series would have loved it. Including myself.
I have the game in my library, but I don't know if I'd ever play it sadly. The reviews are very positive for the game, which isn't surprising, because it's probably the most expanded lore game around Middle Earth.

Yeah, not a fan of "traffic light" ending. Also I had to spend extra time and money to grind that multiplayer mode to get a better ending. There was not a stable internet connection at dorms, so I used to go to internet cafe to play multiplayer. Overall it was rather disappointing experience compared to more coherent story of ME2.
To my shame, my first Mass Effect 1 attempt was in 2018. I couldn't finish it, modern games spoiled me too much.
I'm not a fan of crafting mechanics in videogames so I skipped Andromeda.

Wait what? There's another ending based on the Multiplayer area? I've never played it, although I wish I did.

If you plan to revisit it, please get the Mass Effect™ Legendary Edition as it improves the overall feel of the 1st one and it polishes the other 2 a bit. I've not yet played it, but I 100% will.

I spent $1400 on a PS2, Gamecube, and a ton of games and accessories when I was younger. They gave me an uncountable amount of fun and entertainment. Unfortunately the movers "lost" it all when I was moving houses...

Nothing too crazy, but considering I usually do not buy DLCs unless I REALLY liked the game...
I bought all 100 DLC songs for Final Fantasy Theatrhythm: Curtain Call back in the golden days of the Nintendo 3ds. They were 1 eur each AND I also bought the game day one, thus I probably spent 150+ eur on that single game. My playtime totals 475 hours and I still play it from time to time though, so I definitely do not regret it (I would buy more if they made more XD).

I think my biggest purchase was $70 USD total for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 plus all DLC. I got the game for $20 used from a friend, then $50 for all DLC. This was for the XBOX 360. I definitely got my moneys-worth out of the game though. I played for hundreds of hours and spent more time on zombies multiplayer than normal multiplayer. There's no way I'd rebuy it for PC since it's been out for almost ten years now, and the game plus all DLC is still $100 USD on Steam. If I decide to play it again, the game is playable on XBOX One since it's part of the backwards compatibility list. I still consider it to be the best zombies experience for any COD game. For regular multiplayer, I like Modern Warfare 2 the most.

A clear reason why I didn't buy anymore old CoD was because they kept the same spicy prices for it. My last CoD was Black Ops 1. I loved the series, but I knew it's a vicious cycle that once you play the series, you'll want to play the rest and spend hundreds on the collection. I plan on getting the games slowly, but it's not urgent. Even on an discount £10 it's not worth it for me for a game as old as 10-15 years old game.

Both. My salary isnt high, so I have only limited amount to spend so I buy bundles mostly. So, when I divide it, then I paying cca 1,50€ per game. And there are many good games. And I dont like new games, because have bugs and lot of dlc in future. So I wait for GoT or Definitive Editions and many times those game will be in some bundle (HB, Fanatical). And lastly, it is my investment. So I want lowes average price for game.
Comment has been collapsed.
Having such a massive backlog means you must have been on the bundle grind for a long time. Maybe over 3 years? I've only started buying bundles monthly, in the last year or so and every so often before, if the bundle was right. Nowadays, it's enough for the bundle to contain 1-3 games I have on my wishlist to get purchase approval. 😅
Today I'm sitting at 857 and growing. I'm starting to get concerned how I'll play my most desired ones as the pool increases monthly.
Comment has been collapsed.
I think it was about 6 years back I started to buy bundles. 3 years ago was golden age, many bundles, almost every week. I spend sometimes 80€ monthly. But it wasnt one games, but 100-200 games. My record was 358 games at one day. Now it is slowed down. Many bundles I skip, many repeats. But still continue. Maybe once I sell them or if bless happens, my children inherit this treasure :D
Comment has been collapsed.
Woah, that's a lot of games at once. I'd not spend that much on gaming, or maybe I would. I would not know really. My biggest gain was just recently with the Ukrainian Bundle. I've never gained so many games at once to the point Steam had to restrict me getting to activate them for 1 hour. 😅
I plan on passing my Steam account as well to my children, if they ever want it.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh yeah, I've just found out about it too, I don't know how easy it is to activate with that thing.
Update: I just got the Archi userscript multiple activation right now, although I'm not sure how that will do with games I get from Humble Bundle, but I will see. Is this one right?

It's not terrible, but I was hoping for more of an actual WW2 game. Spawns still suck of course, can't seem to ever get it right, sometimes if your team is losing you'll spawn in and die over and over until the game eventually swaps team spawn location. My biggest gripe is how they shoehorn all the games together turning Warzone (MW2019) into a complete mess. You have a mish mash of modern weapons, weapons from the cold war era and now WW2 era weaponry tossed together making balancing a disaster.
The campaign is decent, COD games rarely disappoint in that aspect so at least they are consistent with that.
Comment has been collapsed.
The spawning is an issue I've seen in past games, I'm surprised they haven't fixed that.
As for weapons, I don't like that they aren't trying to keep it authentic, although I get that may make the combat a lot more slow and boring, as there weren't many choices and I'm not sure, but CoD WWII probably may have covered it. I want to get that game as it reminds me of CoD 1 & 2.
I honestly want to play them for the campaign, but I'm not sure I'm willing to pay a full price for just that. I'd play the multiplayer if it was for more recent ones, where it's more populated.

Well, that kinda depends on the type of media you're talking about. If it's those low-quality, for-profit and ad-driven tabloid "news" sources, yea - they're more likely to write sensationalist articles to drive clicks to their sites. That's why I prefer content from publicly funded media organisations, since they don't have so much of an incentive to derive profits from their activities.

The most expensive game on my library is: Sid Meier's Civilization VI : Platinum Edition but I bought on HB for % of original price.
The most expensive game I bought:
If for game is: CLANNAD Bundle (28$ but I pay in my currency PLN)
If for DLC: Halo: infinite campain (60$ but I pay in my currency PLN)
Almost always buy games in bundles or/and discounted
Yep I happy with my purchases

I've never read a manga before. I avoided books back when I was a kid, now I read... well listen to books, every single day.
I discovered that I've had a form of light ADHD or something because I'd easily get bored sitting in one place and just doing one action, watching stuff. So I preferred to be somehow involved in what I'm doing.

I can recommand: Trinity seven, Horimiya, D-Frag Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator or To Aru Kagaku no Railgun.

I didn't play that many AC games, i tried them long ago and they didn't keep my attention. But a year or so ago i played Odyssey on girlfriend's PS4 and loved the game(plan on getting ultimate edition if it hits 80% off :D), so i knew i would love Origins that was almost the same game just in different place :) I loved exploring in both the games, so i can't say i liked more :D

I think it would be either the pre-order for Kingdom Hearts III or pre-order for Batman: Arkman Knight, both for Playstation 4. Can't remember which one was more expensive, but surely my most expensive purchase is one of those. They're also the only games I've pre-ordered in my life.
I remember pre-ordering Kingdom Hearts III really long time before it was released (since it kept getting delayed) and I had actually forgotten about placing the order by the time it actually came to me. I wasn't too upset about it, but considering I still haven't managed to play the game I definitely could've cancelled the order and just buy it cheaper later. ^^;
Batman: Arkham Knight I decided to pre-order because I had loved the previous games and Knight looked amazing, and the pre-order bonus seemed worth it. I'm beyond ashamed to admit that I also still haven't played this game, so it was definitely a waste of money purchase...
you could mention a game you've bought that maybe is no longer on Steam and had to buy it on a key-shop or something
I haven't made such a purchase but I still wanted to mention that I have occasionally considered buying 'Deadpool' like that. Really upset that I missed the short window of time that it was back on Steam, because I surely would've bought it then. I'm not really going to buy it from a key-shop, I don't want to support the gray market, but sometimes I have entertained the thought for a minute before returning to reality.
Ps. I love how balanced the poll is! Don't see a lot of that. :D

Don't beat yourself, because while doing this thread, I realized I've spent £34.99 on New World and I've not even played it yet. The queue issue really ruined my mood. By the time it kind got fixed, I lost interest. I could not refund my game because 4.8 hrs I've spent in queues. Amazon did the same stuff with Lost Ark, but at least that game is free now.

I'm actually one of those fans who automatically cringes when anyone calls the story 'good'. The whole thing is fun for sure, but the story is just.. wacky. It was initially just humorous but wholesome, then as the franchise grew in popularity the developers became hellbent on complicating the plot in an effort to make it "deep." This made a lot of it convoluted for no real reason, but it's still fun at least. Kingdom Hearts was my very first game on Playstation 2 when I got the console and a game as a gift, so the whole thing feels very nostalgic - that's also what drove me to pre-order. Very much a comfort franchise in a sense, even if objectively there are several far better games/franchises around.

Ouch, that's a bummer. Honestly Steam really should adjust the refund time period, have it be longer for bigger games. I've heard several people having lost their refund chance simply from games gathering playtime while they were trying to find a fix to even make the game run, so they never even had a chance to play the game to test it out. Really unfair situation.

I normally don't refund games, even if I don't play them on release, as generally for MMO's it's best like that, but heck, I can get to try it out once and treat it as a Single Player RPG. 🤣 Me and maybe 2-3 more online members on the server lol.

Lol, sorry, I have no idea what's the story about, but I've seen people claiming it's not a bad story.
No, no! No need to be sorry, I just found it amusing and went on a little unrelated rant, haha. ^^;

Make friends with those 2-3 players and you got a whole game "tailor made" just for your gang!

My vote for "No, I've played this game a lot and was totally worth it 😄" just balanced the poll out at exactly 50/50
The most I ever spent on a single game was for DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online). I think in total I spent around £120 on that game over the course of maybe 3 or 4 years. I played it in the late 00's and early 10's until one random day I just stopped playing, uninstalled it, and I never played it again since. I decided at the time not to ever play an MMO again, then about a year later I got Guild Wars 2 as an early xmas present and ended up sinking thousands of hours into that over the course of about 5 years before it got a little stale and I spent less time playing it. After expansion 2 came out I decided not to buy it and have never really played it much since. Crazy to think that 2nd expansion was 5 years ago now and it just got a new 3rd expansion finally. I watched a Live Let's Play for it instead of buying it, much cheaper.
I think the most I spent on a non-MMO game in recent years was in 2020 at the start of the pandemic when I decided it was time to buy the latest copy of Football Manager for around £25 and I spent a few months really into that. I am also quite addicted to playing Asphalt 9 on my mobile for the past year or so and started to buy the Legend Pass for it and have spent roughly £60 on it so far. I don't think I will spend much more on it though as it is starting to bore me a little finally and I have way too many games in my Steam backlog that I should really start to play. I started Max Payne 3 finally a couple months ago, got about half way then stopped and haven't played it since due to being busy. I really want to complete it before playing anything else. Too many games, too little time.

I didn't realized how that ended up like that, but it makes sense lol. There's a mix feeling there.

I'm surprised there's a lot of people who played Guild Wars 2 and are part of this community. I did expect more ESO and WOW players, but there's a lot of GW2 players here. 🙌🏻
I think they took too much time to release major content, that kinda made me stop playing, because I got the game on release date and I managed to get quickly to highest level and just did events and PVP.

I know the feeling, my backlog is just as big and I feel there's little time, not because I couldn't play them, but because I'm starting to become an perfectionist and try to complete the games to 100%. I'm currently playing Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair as I won it on the giveaways here, and the title is not misleading, to get the game to 100% you have to go in the end mission in a suicidal run for 30 minutes to fight the boss 4 times and through some brutal . Yesterday I wasted 4-5 hours doing the run and could only managed to complete 67% of it. I'm about to reach the 100 attempt lol. It's the hardest game I've ever played of this type. Even Super Meat Boy was more possible when I first played it and because of my stupid will to get it to 100%, I spend too much time with some games that aren't really worth my time.

I am with you 100% on the 100% issue. I am bad at needing to 100% a game. I am trying to curb that this year. I even started a project on January 1st to try and play at least 1 game a day from all my steamgift wins, which meant I could only play each game for around 1 hour. I made a spreadsheet with colour code, score, notes, etc for each game to keep a record. Some were very addictive and I ended up having to 100% them though. Others were great but I managed to time manage them better.
It was going well until about 3 weeks ago when I became a lot busier in my life and now I have not played a single PC game in almost a month. I have some catching up to do.
Yeah I started GW2 about 1 month after release, and was even a prominent Guild Officer and helped our Guild Leader devise the first guide for Scribing that is still relevant today. When I do sign in I still get requests to join my guild for the scribing stuff even though our guild is pretty much empty of people now as everyone moved on in their lives, sadly.
In the year up towards the HOT expansion me and my guildies were not playing as much, but then my 2 main friends in the game bought HOT so I bought it also and got another couple of good years out of the game but in the lead up to POF there was nothing much left for me to do in the game. Since then, Arenanet changed so much with the systems, loot, inventory etc, and the way I played my main (mesmer) that really put me off wanting to rejoin, but I enjoy to pop in for the Festivals sometimes for nostalgia, especially the Wintersday one.

You've got 322 games won here. I have 22, and I've already started playing the first won games. I've played so far 5/22 and going for the 6th as we speak. I do get them to 100% even if they are tough if I can. Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair particularly was the hardest game I've ever played in a while. I would not play the game for an 1 hour, as I mainly pick the games I wanna win nowadays as they are somewhat interesting or I'm willing to play them and if I'm lucky, they are in my whitelist, which I will more likely play them 100%.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Gaming should be an moment for you to entertain, not make into a chore or goal, but as you, I find it fun to challenge myself to finish games.

Nothing really lasts forever. I've been a Guild Leader myself for years in Aion, and I've had a group of people that we've gone as far to staying connected after the game and sometimes I catch up to them to see how they are holding up. Leadership in such games it time consuming, but I loved it so much because I felt I in control of a team that we could have a great time together. I was never restricting people and people that came by my guild there, always enjoyed the chats we used to have. I don't think we expanded more than 20-30 members though. It was difficult to manage big guilds.

I see, I really wonder if my character is still there. 🤔

For physical game, must be RPG on PS3 like Eternal Sonata / Star Ocean / Tales Of ... for 25/30 euros each, that was 5-6 yeras ago.
For digital games on steam (that the way i play now), must be Spark the Electric Jester 2, get at 10.07 euros, really good game, but also preety short and take around 2-4 hours for finishing it.

Yes, and also discover bundle games on steam, and now only bought 10 euro of games / month MAX (5-7 euros in general), and now have a backlog of +600 games ...
But still get high tier games i want like some Tales of Games (3 Games), 2 euros each / Spyro the trilogy for around 3-4 euros / Sunset Overdrive at 1.5 euros, Pacer at 2,5 euros ... by the power of trading :)

Same, I started only with 30 or 50 and ended with 800+ games. 😅 It's crazy how easily you can grow if you find the right bundles. 75-80% are games I've wanted mainly.

I've not traded as of yet, I'm a bit nervous to do so, as I don't wanna get scammed, I rather give the game away to someone here.

Hi and welcome back to another random question.
Today's topic is quite simple: What was the most expensive purchase you've ever made? This could be a collection you've bought at a really pricy time because you couldn't contain yourself not to buy it or you could mention a game you've bought that maybe is no longer on Steam and had to buy it on a key-shop or something.
My personal one is The Sims 4 with all it's expansions. I've bought pretty much every major update until Cottage Living (which I didn't even play yet - lol).
Anyway, what was yours?
The price for ALL the expansions is £515.08, without the game, that costs £35. I didn't pay that much, but I've paid for sure £150. 😨
Update: I came to the realization that I've spent a lot more in League of Legends, which is no surprise. I have played that game for more than 4 seasons, that's about 4 years, every single day, if I could. Based on my calculations I've spent £231.55. 😳😅
