Do you regret paying so much
Not really i payed in tf2 keys which were probably more cost effective and yeah it was totally worth it i had 200+ hours on epic and if i could get that on steam it would be worth the price (rocket league is around 400-500$ for a steam key on grey market) so yeah it was well worth the money

X-COM 2 keeps hitting now $10-15 discounts, but considering the time I've spent with it, I don't see why $30-40 wouldn't be worth it. It's a great game.
I'd say that an online game or something that keeps you for hours is worth the price. Because you spend a lot of time with it than a game you finish and put it aside and never play it again.

Yes, I would say so. https://steamdb.info/app/1293830/
I got it during last year's summer sale, around 60% off.

It's hard for me to wrap my head around a game still being £30 after such a discount. I guess I'm trying to compare it with the complexity of Red Dead Redemption 2 or something similar. Not saying it isn't worth it, I'm just seeing how some games have a higher price than I would normally pay for that type of genre of game.

NBA2k16 from a keyshop $27, I heard it's one of the best 2k games and I really wanted it. It's probably my 3rd most played game behind Skyrim or Witcher 3.

I've spent a little over $200 on Another Eden.....but not a cent of it was my own money, it was all from google play giftcards that I won.
Then I found out what utter shit WFS support is, and I regret spending anything even if it wasn't out of my pocket.

Where did you win that gift card from?
Another Eden is inspired by Crono Cross? Got mixed reviews due to the fact that it "forces" people to play on mobile instead?

Multiple $5-$20 gift cards, from bluestacks 2 hour things.
Many of the Chrono Trigger devs also worked on AE so there are a lot of similarities between it and CT/CC. There's also a CC collab with a pretty good story arc that gives you Serge, Kid, and Harle as playable characters.

Oh, is it still possible to make that amount now? Or it was a temporary thing?

I see, I've not played any of them. But I can see the similarities.

If you can spare 10 minutes every 2 hours to play whatever random game, and don't mind going days or even weeks without winning anything, yes. That ~$200 was won $5 at a time over the course of a couple years, I had nothing else to spend google play credit on so I said why not?

Absolutely! I'm trying to use Mistplay and play the heck out of Raid: Shadow Legends, because it earns me good amount of points. I'm capable of withdrawing £10 already, but I wanna make it to £15 before I withdraw.
The problem is, the game started hooking me and now I actually enjoy it.

well, 6-7 years long wow subscription? but all those were done monthly...
Games gets sales sooooo fast nowadays, so I literally never buy full priced games, there were some exception for games when i had a lot of fun with the previous titles of a company. Most expensive perhaps was:
Stellaris 39,99€
Comment has been collapsed.
It's never worth getting a game at full price unless you're going to play it straight away or you're building content off of it.
I got Stellaris recently too, but I've not paid the full price. Paradox always charges so much for DLC's that I don't see buying the base game at full price worth it.
Speaking of the game, how do you find it?

Oh, this was the only CoD with futuristic combat as I remember. At the time when I saw it, I can honestly say I've not liked it. After playing Titanfall 2 I've reconsidered trying it at some point.

The most I've ever spent on League of Legends is $450 over 9 years.
As a single purchase, Assassin Creed Odyssey - Gold Edition $59.99

That's a lot, but still expected for that game. Which is your main champion and role? And what's the character that you've bought the most skins for?

I've finished the game not too long ago. It took a while to get used to it as a fan of the franchise, but the game grew on me as time passed.

Since season 5, my main role has been support and my current main champion is Nami. Umm.. maybe Volibear?

So do I. I played that game after Assassin's Creed Unity and it took me a while to get used to it.

Nami? My wife loved playing Nami. We've started since Season 4 playing. I have been an ADC main all that time. Started as Varus main, ended as Jhin main.

Unitity clicked with me surprisingly very well. I've hoped it would be the mess and trash people kept talking about, but I honestly enjoyed it a lot more than I hoped for. It ended up reaching my top 5 list of best AC games.

for me its the best even though its still not perfectly balanced, but its getting updates frequently

Resident Evil Village, full price. To me it lived up to the hype.

Funny enough, the most expensive game I have purchased is actually the only game I have paid real money to own and play.
It is Wazhack
The rest of the games on my account of which many are more expensive than Wazhack, are from won giftcards, giveaways, skins, freebies, actual gifts...

Old console games were so expensive! Remember being wowed by the graphics of Chip n' dale back in the days and wanting it. My neighbour got it though so I did not have to! (While a good game, i'm glad I did not get it. It was too easy. Even as a 5-6 year old I was able to breeze through it)
Although I did not pay for it, if we count gifts Donke Kong Country was my most expensive game. Darn thing was 800 SEK (about 80€) at launch. Beat it in three days :(

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Collector's Edition - £150, Gryphon is whole (many have damaged tail attachment).
That looks like a really cool pack!
But I bought for £1 Heroes of Might and Magic Complete Edition, accidentally saw in the store, 99% discount, apparently no one wanted to buy such beauty.
And what a game that was. 🥰

By far, the largest is the ~$120 I have spent on Beat Saber and DLCs over the last month. I don't regret it as I am having lots of fun competing with my mom (she has the Oculus Quest 2, I have the HP Reverb G2). None of my other game purchases come close to that spending.

Depends on if you mean one-time purchase or over the lifetime of a game. I did buy the Guild Wars 1 CE for about 60-70€. Over the lifetime of a game probably Ultima Online which I played for about 4 years. Not counting subscriptions, well, I do own all but one expansion for Europa Universalis 4....

It's more of a over the lifetime purchase for a game, be it containing subscription or DLC or maybe it was a special edition kind of package.

I just bought the collection recently from Humble, but haven't yet played it. I'm curious if it's closely similar to Crusader Kinds.

I spent a grand today to be able to play Black Mesa. Background: I went through some dire straits the last year and didn't want to buy overpriced components to enrich scalpers.
I decided to re-visit Black Mesa to experience the Xen chapter. Alas my humble business laptop didn't cut it and I uninstalled the game. A friend noticed and asked me and I told him why.
So in frustration I checked the market and settled for an entry level gaming laptop(MSI GF65 Thin 10UE-273) which I bought today.
A welcome side effect will be that no one can blame me to not appreciate the Halflife franchise ;)

Software wise I don't think I've ever spent over 15 USD in any individual game. Now, if you add up all the games I bought through the years and the hardware I bought in order to play them it's likely a hefty sum, a sum I'd rather not calculate for the sake of my mental health.

As far as I'm concerned it was worth it for sure, I just don't wanna do the numbers because it would take a decent amount of effort to track down all the different purchases and then try to convert them into a single currency and adjust for inflation and just thinking about that sounds like too much of a hassle.
Also it was mostly adulthood, up until my early twenties I was a full time pirate when it came to gaming, then I made a 180 and I now probably have one the largest Steam libraries in my country (I was in the top 20 at one point according to astats).

And to be fair, you'd have to recall many years back and prices changes, I'd never ask you to do that kind of work. 😄

I can understand that, I've done that too, but now I am buying the games I've once pirated and if they are part of bundles I'm even happier.

Oh yeah, I've also done that for most titles, tho I've never been able to find a (reasonably priced) copy of Outrun 2006 C2C, still hoping to come across a physical copy someday.
I also decided to not bother with any Nintendo game, f*ck 'em and their weird practices when it comes to selling stuff, I'll keep emulating their things without paying a cent.

i usually play for the story. since i no longer have time to game as much as when i was younger i focus on games with story thats interesting to me and that i can save almost anywhere so i can play in chunks of 15 do 30 minutes.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, I prefer to do that too and besides, if the game doesn't click right away in the first hours, I drag it longer. I can spend a lot more time with a game, because I'm obsessing to getting all quests, collectables and discover all parts of the game better. So a game that generally is a 15 hours length, turns into 25-40 hours, if I enjoy it.

Idk if this counts but for me it would be CS:GO because of skins, more particularly skins for gambling when that was huge.
Altogether I believe I spent about $3.5k out of pocket...
I honestly think about it alot still, I sincerely believe certain aspects of my life would be different if I hadn't gambled all that money considering I was fairly young.

Across all accounts i played around 5.7k hours total. Wasn't always enjoyable per she but nonetheless I will always have a lot of memories with it
Comment has been collapsed.
That's a lot of hours. I think I've only spent in League of Legends although to backtrack is impossible as they didn't have such a system, I remember playing. I could say I'd be spending 4 hours a day, approx 5 days a week. Constantly playing for that amount, gets me to about 600 hours in a month.
In an year I would play 7,200 Hours? 🤔 If that's the case, I've spent over 28,800 Hours in the game for the course of 4.5 seasons. I don't know if this is possible, but even half, like 2 hours/5 days, get's me to 14,400 Hours in the course of 4 years. 😱

Hi and welcome back to another random question.
Today's topic is quite simple: What was the most expensive purchase you've ever made? This could be a collection you've bought at a really pricy time because you couldn't contain yourself not to buy it or you could mention a game you've bought that maybe is no longer on Steam and had to buy it on a key-shop or something.
My personal one is The Sims 4 with all it's expansions. I've bought pretty much every major update until Cottage Living (which I didn't even play yet - lol).
Anyway, what was yours?
The price for ALL the expansions is £515.08, without the game, that costs £35. I didn't pay that much, but I've paid for sure £150. 😨
Update: I came to the realization that I've spent a lot more in League of Legends, which is no surprise. I have played that game for more than 4 seasons, that's about 4 years, every single day, if I could. Based on my calculations I've spent £231.55. 😳😅
