I had a few categories, but my Steam Client crashed and when I restarted it, all of my categories were gone, including my Favorites... :(

I don't know if they're gone for good, but I tried to restart again and they're not back? Maybe I should check on one of my other computers? Or wait? Idk...

Should I even bother?

Sure, it'll make it easier to find games to play and save you time in the long run.
Nah, it's a waste of time, just go drown in your abundance of games... (Filthy hoarder...)
Poooooooooootatoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

They're dead.

Probably.
Until you bring them back. Your story has just begun.
\Steam\userdata\numbersforyourID\7\remote (it is time to back up sharedconfig.vdf these days in case this happens. It happened to me a few weeks ago, but I had an old back up for some reason)

It was just this computer, my other computer still had them, oddly enough. But the ones here came back after a couple restarts. It had me worried, though.

I had a bug with the categories a few weeks ago. I slowly started reorganizing a few, but the next time I started up the client, all of them were back where they belonged. So if you give it some time it might fix itself.

Yeah, I restarted a couple times and it's back. That was weird...

No, I didn't touch any of the files, but after a few restarts they came back.
