Russian Gift - Have I got a problem?

Somewhere I've heard that you can get banned for getting gifts from other regions, and even if you'll manage to activate the game, it will be in russian.
Is it true? Is it safe to accept a russian steam gift, if I live somewhere else? This guy didn't state it's the russian version in the description of giveaway and gave it to me by a steam gift.

Giving the link to us may count as calling out, I would remove that link just to be safe from suspension yourself.

You can accept Steam gifts from anywhere and if there is a problem it will tell you when you try to add it to you library. If that happens, contact SG support.

I believe if it's the link to the GA then it's kk, because even we can check that if we go to your profile but... hmmm not sure how mods would see it, it's not really calling out as you are just asking to be safe... also as Sean told you, it depends on the game if it has a region lock, but if you can redeem it you should be ok :)

Most of Russian gifts are the same as in the rest of the world. And even some RU-tagged gifts have no activation restrictions.

The giveaway that OP linked was for Trine. As far as I know, it's not region locked.
