I don't know what to think. Each to their own is one thing that springs to mind. Having said that, I can't my head round it and understand why he'd want to do it. Another part of me wonders if he is happy about it, in which case I could be pleased for him. Opposite to that it could be an addiction. He may have felt like he was so far in that he had to keep going whilst not enjoying it, and that of course would be sad.

A rough estimate on how much he spent on it:

38003 + 100 foil levels on holiday badges + 3066 badges
That might be approximately 40k$+ on holiday badges + 15k$+ on other badges = ~60k$
Well considering he probably spent more than 1$ on each holiday badge level and 5 level for each badge and foils cost more than 5$ on average, I guess it can be something between 60k and 100k USD
minus the profit he got from crafting badges, cards dropped from playing games, cards dropped from crafting badges during holiday/summer sales, also cards/profit from booster packs

I can't be sure, but I imagine some of his 1500 friends probably donate their spare cards that they don't want/need to help him in his quest to reach, well, whatever level he ends up on.

They would definitely be more relieved than the rest of us that's for sure. Though I think if u had that much money and never was in danger of actually loosing job / home / whatever, life could get boring for them.

If he has 3000+ badges, and each badge is level 5+ and on average they are about 0,5€ for one level of badge, that will be about 7500€ on badges. Just dafuq, why spend so much money on badges when you can save money for either games, or better yet - computer and stuff in real life. Must be quite rich boy he.

Dude, I live in one of the most expensive countries in Europe - Finland, and yes, the salaries for some highly educated people are above 2400€, but that sum is taxable. And highest salary I've seen you can get for normal jobs (not CEO or other board member places) was 4300€, which after being taxed gets down to 2800€ - and you have to live with that money too, pay the rent, buy stuff and save maybe for something. But that just leads to my point - either he's really rich or he just doesn't have any better way of spending his money on something more useful in his life. :P

Erm... ur quite wrong cos there are event badge which can craft for unlimited, he had lvl6000 for tis event... so which would be 0.12USDx10x6000 = $7200 solely for this event :l

So, this is finally happened, PalmDesert crafted over 3000 badges and becomes the first user on Steam that reached level 1000 - http://steamcommunity.com/id/palmdesert But Valve seems doesn't care, they even didn't have icon for levels beyond 999. What do you think about this?
