Am I really the only one whos having problems with their launcher ?
Start of rant
I know I have shitty internet but cmon - it gobbles it down on the startup so badly it takes several minutes to load anything.... I cant even stop updates as the button simply doesnt show up ..... Seems like a weird design IMO
Also it randomly switches my language to French while it`s partially loading and failing... While it has not loaded the buttons it redirects me to the browser where it opens on error 404..........
It just seems like complete shitshow on the backend... While I dont doubt its partly my fault with having unstable internet, it feels highly unstable for me. Now I have all the downloads stopped, it shows 5 Mbps network usage and is unholy slow. While I know it might not be fair to compare it to steam, but when using steam it shows me usage of only up to 2 Mbps and at least nothing is slowing down up to a point it becomes unresponsive at all..........

I don't think it's just you because sometimes the launcher is THAT bad. It's very slow, it's clunky, heavy on resources and still missing important options. Mostly, I just use it to download a game and play it without it, since most of their games are DRM-Free or can be played it with an extra command or trick to avoid or disable the launcher. Ubisoft games can be activated on Uplay and played from there without the Epic launcher too. To hell with their achievements and time-tracking, it's a low price to pay anyway to avoid that bulky mess.

You know, it sounds like your typical complaining even it's free and all that, but the last few games have been a little underwhelming. Cris Tale doesn't seem good, Brothers - A Tale of Two sons is good, but already bundled a few times, Windbound wasn't very good, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair was good but already given away...

They had Black Widow: Recharged and Centipede: Recharged as next games together with the Dauntless stuff when I looked. Dunno why the two games are not there right now but I'm assuming they will put them back up there.

For pirates? It's a screen-sharing app, I have no idea what you mean. I've never tried it either, but from my understanding it's what folks used before Steam Remote Play Together was a thing.

if you don't care to finish the games at 100% you can do without the achievements otherwise they are necessary. it depends what one wants.

Some games do have achievements, for example Remnant: From the Ashes. Or it did when I was playing it, you open the in-game overlay to see them.
Recently they added an achievement, perfect game and xp stats. I do not know if the achievements are retroactive and I'm not installing Remnant again to find out.

Most of the time the achievements are quite unrelated to "finishing them 100%".
You 100% achievements, that are usually a system outside of the actual game.
You do not "finish 100%" WH40K Space Marine for example by killing 40 thousand enemies. Nor you complete a game by building, killing, buying an arbitrary number of enemies or things.
