Hm, Dark Souls is a great game as is, too early to remaster it IMO. I guess Bloodborne is held hostage by Sony, it'd be such a gift to PC players otherwise.

I couldn't get that archaic piece of shit to run on my computer despite trying to use the fixes/mods to get it going, so I'm happy that I'm finally going to be able to play it, in 60fps too.

Did you try the latest version of DSFix and disable anti-aliasing in the options? Because that's how you get it to work on modern systems at 60 FPS.

Yes, and it's shameful that they are selling the game in that broken condition where you can't even play it without looking for mods. If any other game on Steam did that it would be review bombed to hell.

oh, I'm not complaining about it, just explaining it. Any remaster comes with a fresh marketing push, which can revitalize sales for an old game.
Some remasters are good, some are pointless, some are problematic, but I don't judge until I play the finished product

A simple retexture is a cop out. If it was like SOFTS where it actually changed some stuff that would be one thing, but this is a cash grab.

I wouldnt say its early, the port was a total mess and barely worked thanks to durante so I'm pretty ok with this.

My memory could be clouded because I loved the game (unexpectedly), but I had no problems with it. Durante's patch surely helped up the visuals, though, so it'd be a nice gesture from From (heh) to make it an official patch for everybody. Otherwise I'd rather they spent their resources on porting Bloodborne (but, as I said, Sony won't and shouldn't allow it — it's the only reason I'd even consider ever buying their console).

Wake me up when we get to Demon Souls...which is probably never, the game has a lot more mechanics than Dark Souls, some of which need fixing, and i dont see anyone actually putting any work in these remakes for them to take that risk

It's perfectly playable with a controller and DSfix will give you 60fps/1080p free of charge.

I love Dark Souls, although if a remaster were to fix the often clunky movement and UI issues (so if it were to play like Dark Souls 3) I wouldn't mind and buy and replay it right ahead. 😁
I certainly hope, though, that this remaster does more than only upscale the resolution and fix the FPS issues, otherwise it will be shit. As a remake, I mean.

I heard that the port of DarkSouls 1 on Pc is totally horrible and they say that is the wrost port of DS on Pc.
So this can be actually good.
I want to play DS1 but not with the old port.
But I will buy for sure if now we get a good port.

That doesn't seem like enough to hold a game back, though. It's pretty easy to change any textures and having a game about being president hasn't stopped anyone else from publishing. Maybe there is not enough interest. Who knows.

cool, would have preferred the good old demons though. don't know if the dedicated server is a good thing, my experience with ds2 was much worst compared to ds1. still, at least those who were not able to play the old port or didn't want to because of its reputation will have their chance.

This is exciting because the Dark Souls 1 is super cool except for it looking visually nasty and running like garbage. Although, I'd honestly be more interesting in Demon Souls to get a proper remake, only because I never actually beat that one and its supposed to be really interesting.
