Old Steam Tray Icon Sync

I might be wrong with my sub-goldfish memory but...
When the Steam tray icon was that with the black square, didn't it have a different animation for when it was saving/syncing?

Also, is there some way to make the new icon do something like that again?
I don't really like that grey window that opens now, it was so much more handy like that, I guess.

It was nice to know when it was downloading something without having to mouse over it.

So I didn't dream about it! XD Did it show something like ellipses "..."?

It's not that I expect any change or something. Societies only like big flashy changes, little handy things are doomed to fossilize.

I just wasn't surte if it existed at all or I just invented it in my warped mind : )
