The thread's title post indicates to "comment below or send a message if you want one" which is a pretty good way to confuse a lot of people. Such is the result of copy pasting directly quoted instructions which were pasted on another site, as opposed to rewriting them in context. Additionally, originally there wasn't a Twitter link to begin with in the post judging by comments on page 1.
A less problematic or confusing post may have been: "Comment on this Twitter post [Link] or send [Developer's Twitter] a direct message if you're interested in a Steam key to participate in the Alpha / Beta test of their upcoming free to play game.

OP posted the twitter link which is something people should have clicked. They also put the instructions in "quotes". If they directly implied to be posting it here, they wouldn't need to do that.

Considering that the OP got a 1 week suspension and disabled Twitter private messages, I think it's safe to say that some or most people who wanted a key didn't get one - the ones who posted after the suspension or after he disabled DMs at least.
