New type of scam?

I just go a steam message from a FRIEND saying: Hi, do you want to trade this knife ? (Check out the screenshot of the knife ) . Do not open the link (contains virus). Could it have been that my friend account got hacked or someone took over control to send this message?

The amount of scammers on Steam is too damn high!
