With the recent changes to point generation on this site, users have to be more selective of the giveaways they enter. One thing to help make searching for these ideal giveaways easier is to have a filter that will hide certain giveaways based on a win chance threshold.

no offense but it feels like babysitting (idk what's the word for it)
since we can actually look for a specific game/DLC/software using the search feature, we can just enter the giveaway with lowest entries ourselves

No offense taken! Yes, true, one can search for specific games and make those judgements on their own, but what harm could a little automation do?

SG himself said he didn't want people spending so much time on the site having to check for giveaways. Perhaps this follows a similar logic?

I haven't look into the post related to the new points that much, but from what I understood the problem was people spending too much time on the site because they don't want their points to go to waste, so imho this feature doesn't really follow that logic although it does make it's easier for us to spend our points

... but what harm could a little automation do?

you have a point, since making this feature is probably not a difficult thing anyway

I'll just say this:
I will vote yes if they actually consider this feature, but I don't think it will actually gives much impact to the site either

p.s. sorry if my words were confusing ( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ

If you automate that process, in the end everyone will use it and the advantage of making the smarter choice will be gone. I don't really see the point of that. Either you invest some time or you rely on your luck only.
Not to mention that the least time spent on the site would be with autojoiners. And I'm pretty sure that's not his ambition. ;)

You can use "entry_max=" to only show giveaways that have less than a certain number of entries, but you may miss out on multiple copy giveaways that have higher entries that you would want to enter.

Edit: Also, there might be scripts that will allow you to do what you want. I'm not sure but ESGST might be able to, I didn't check. I'm pretty sure it will show you the information you want, but I don't know if you can use it to filter the giveaway list.

My main giveaway list is only a few pages long, so I personally just check them manually :)

I use ESGST to show the projected ratio/entries (assuming entries continue along the current average number until the GA ends -- not a valid assumption, but the simplest) via setting 2.15, "Giveaway Winning Ratio." It lets me add multiple thresholds under that setting to color code the projected ratio based on its value. I don't have it filtering certain ones out (I don't know if it currently has that ability, but I don't think it does), but looking at the number of entries is very time-dependent.

If you want to maximize your chances to win a game without enough points to enter them all, you need to consider not just the current number of entries, but also the end date/time (is it a flash GA?) and group/level/region restrictions.

ESGST can sort GAs based on those projections. So while it's not filtering, you can easily see together the ones you are most likely to win.

As noted above, doing a search off entry_max and copy_min will let you get all the results you want, within two searches, with very little loss of optimization compared to what a new, specialized parameter would offer. That said, cg doesn't seem opposed to adding new parameters, and that seems like it'd just be an easy blend of entry_max and [copies/entries], so cg may decide to add it (or update the existing entry_max parameter to factor in multiple copies) regardless.

That said, winning six value menu McDonald's burgers doesn't beat out winning a Steak, so I can't at all follow the mentality which favors entering games off of win rate rather than desire. Just remember, no matter how bad a game may be, you're potentially taking it from someone who actually wants to play it- please consider only entering for games you actually plan to play.

How about a script to enter everything for you too?

OH WAIT.

Is there some way to see only giveaways of a certain level?

For example, I'm in level 4, some way to only see giveaways of that level.

Thanks you!

If I want to search in a different level, I only need to change the number at the link?

Yep. You can already set the max level shown to you in your settings i.e don't show higher level GAs you can't enter.

Alright, thanks again.

Edit: For some reason the message was sent twice

There's a thread listing all the filters, try searching for it. There might be other stuff you want to use.
