Here we go, I'll start.

Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark (2010) - This movie is a joke. At first it's interesting, then it's boring and then it's just funny/pathetic. And they put it in a "horror" genre. Words are not sufficient. Nosferatu is turning in his grave. 3/10

Gretel and Hansel was a pleasant surprise - wan't expecting much, but got a visually impressive, surreal spin on an already dark fairy tale instead. No doubt It could be a much better movie without the cumbersome narration (a la original Bladerunner - what were they thinking?), and a lighter touch with the feminism, though for the most part that was fairly well restrained.

Room (2015)

Pretty good, mostly single-location movie, fantastic performances by Jacob Tremblay (who's gonna have a great future in acting if he's already THIS talented at his age) and Brie Larson. Hard hitting story.

Predestination (2014) - i enjoyed it a lot,the ending twist was really mind blowing.
Birds of Prey - this movie was really disappointing and boring.

Amer (2009) I just really like giallo, so because this was a such a beautifully constructed and stylish (though virtually plot less) homage to the genre, I enjoyed it. But not for everyone, I'll admit.

Scaramouche (1923) Silent version of Sabatini's swashbuckler about romance and revenge during the French Revolution. Beautifully mounted, never a dull moment, and a cast of thousands - something you never see in movies anymore.

Birds of Prey 2020 - What happens when you assault a police station and the cops don't fire back? This movie. I like Robbie, but this was just as stated directly above - boring and disappointing.

Onward (2020)

Hey, finally us metalheads have some representation at Disney-Pixar. That fact alone already elevates the movie by a few points.

And apart from that it's also really good! I smiled, I teared up. The movie is just a really fun watch!

One word to describe this movie? Beautiful! The story, the cinematography, the music, just everything.

  • The Irishman - 9/10 (elderly Scorsese is still extremely competent)
  • The Snowman - 5/10 (yet another awful movie with Fassbender in it, looks like it's the only only kind of movies he plays in these days)
  • Jojo Rabbit - 8/10 (maybe a tad overestimated, but that couple of kids playing the main parts were pretty awesome)
  • The Gentlemen - 8/10 (I've long since given up on Guy Ritchie, but here we go, it's almost as fun as his early British movies)
  • Portrait of a Lady on Fire - 9/10 (a powerful feminist statement and a beautiful love story without a hint of vulgarity)
  • Little Women (2019) - 8/10 (what can I say, I absolutely adore Ronan and Chalamet)
  • DAU. Natasha - 6/10 (definitely not talentless, but deeply pornographic and way too cruel a movie. I mean, von Trier looks like an innocent young boy compared with Khrzhanovskiy. I think I've satisfied my curiosity about this project)
  • The Fly - 7/10 (I was too late to watch it, without nostalgic element it unfortunately looks archaic in 2020)
  • The Seventh Seal - 10/10 (I'm speechless, definitely one of the best movies I've ever seen - and it feels almost like a modern arthouse movie, not like something created more than 60 years ago)
  • Suspiria (1977) - 6/10 (sure, the visuals are pretty, and the soundtrack is impressive, but that's it, I haven't got anything else to praise this movie for. The story is incredibly silly, and acting is poor to a degree of hilariousness. I've enjoyed the remake so much more).
  • Eraserhead - 9/10 (Weird. So weird, even by Lynch's standards. Loved it)
  • Chernobyl - 10/10 (this one is special to me partially because of the tenderness and respect it treats my former and current compatriots with)

+1 for the Seventh Seal. I own it on Criterion dvd. That is one FANTASTIC movie by the legendary Ingmar Bergman with the equally as legendary, and late great, Max Von Sydow.

Also, which Fly? The original or the one from 1986.

I didn't even know Cronenberg's movie was a remake.

The original is also pretty fun. Definitely more campy than the remake, but it has Vincent Price in it and that's always a big plus.

I think for anyone who appreciates older movies, the original actually works better and has some unforgettable scenes. I barely remember the remake, even though I really like Cronenberg's movies overall.

Ip man 4. Not as good as the first 2 but better than the third IMO. Haven't been into MMA movies for a long time before i stumbled upon Ip man a few years ago.

Good stuff!
