Here we go, I'll start.

Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark (2010) - This movie is a joke. At first it's interesting, then it's boring and then it's just funny/pathetic. And they put it in a "horror" genre. Words are not sufficient. Nosferatu is turning in his grave. 3/10

Blonde Venus (1932)

American drama film. It's about a cabaret singer who takes up with a millionaire to pay for her gravely-ill husband's operation. Very good cast (Marlene Dietrich, Cary Grant, Herbert Marshall, Sidney Toler, Hattie McDaniel, Sterling Holloway and more). This movie starts off surprisingly German (but then again Marlene Dietrich plays the lead role and Josef von Sternberg directed) and even later in the movie Dietrich's character doesn't hide her German background (singing songs in German for example). So I really enjoyed this one. It was also nice to see a young Cary Grant (his first movie came out earlier that year) and with this movie being pre-Code there's definitely some stuff in there that they wouldn't have gotten away with a few years later. Overall I can very much recommend it.

A Prairie Home Companion (2006)

American musical comedy drama romance Western film. It's about the final broadcast of a celebrated American radio show and what goes on backstage during it. Great cast (Garrison Keillor (who created the actual, real-life A Prairie Home Companion radio show that this movie is based on), Meryl Streep, Woody Harrelson, Lindsay Lohan, Lily Tomlin, John C. Reilly, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Kline, Virginia Madsen, L. Q. Jones, Maya Rudolph and more). This is ~100 minutes full of American folk music and interesting people doing different things backstage. This is a bit slice-of-live mixed together with a variety radio show. I think this movie is charming but maybe not something most people will think of as a real movie. It was also the last movie of Robert Altman (who directed so many great movies that I can't even list them all here). Overall I like it though, so I can recommend it. But it's nothing I'd rewatch.

Walk the Line (2005)

American biographical drama film. It's about the life of Johnny Cash. Watched this at the cinema yesterday. Yes, for some reason I hadn't seen this one yet so when a single screening at my local cinema popped up I decided to just go for it. And I definitely enjoyed this movie. I'm not even a big fan of Johnny Cash (or American folk music in general) but I thought this movie was great. Highly recommended!

Me, Myself & the Void (2023)

American science fiction mystery comedy film. It's about a struggling stand-up comedian trapped in a mysterious void outside the bounds of time and space who now must investigate how his body wound up motionless on his bathroom floor and wake himself up before it’s too late. So I did watch this because I'm a big fan of Chris and Jack and their surreal sci-fi comedy sketches. So when they talked about this movie they made/are starring in at the end of their last video I was immediately sold and decided to watch it as soon as I could and today was that day. I don't want to spoil too much about the movie because it's best if you don't read up on it at all but if you've seen any of those sketches on the Chris and Jack YouTube channel you know what you can roughly expect from this movie. Their stuff translates to feature film length surprisingly well, but it's also of course not exactly the same. It's also under 90 minutes long so doesn't overstay its welcome. Overall I thought this was really good and I can definitely recommend it.

Blackbeard (1911)

American adventure drama short film. It's about the famous pirate Blackbeard taking the governor and his family prisoners but then a British warship arrives and they try to rescue them. There wasn't all that much story in this 15 minute short film but it was the first time we've seen Blackbeard on screen, so just out of curiousity I think this is worth the watch. Can recommend.

The Thursday Murder Club (2025)

British-American comedy crime mystery thriller film. It's about a group of elderly amateur sleuths who attempt to solve a murder. This is a lot of fun. It's full of mystery but also heart and with a cast this great (Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Celia Imrie, Ben Kingsley, Tom Ellis, Daniel Mays, David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Richard E. Grant, Joseph Marcell, Paul Freeman, Geoff Bell and more) you can't go wrong either. Richard Osman (who wrote the novel this is based on) has already written like 4 more novels in this series so there's certainly more material to adapt, so I do hope they make more like this. Overall this was very entertaining and I can very much recommend it.

Miller's Crossing (1990)

Pretty good gangster movie from Joel Coen, as always dialogue and characters shine in this. I can't say I was super interested in the overall narrative per se, also too many names all at once I'm not very good at remembering each character at first lol.
Not my favourite of the Coens but still worth a watch nonetheless. I prefer Barton Fink much more which came one year later I recommend that too!

Fixed (2025)

American adult animated comedy film. It's about a dog who learns that he is going to be neutered. So yeah, this is definitely not for kids and I don't envy the parent that accidentally put this one on for their kids expecting it to be something different because you pretty quickly get to see that it's definitely adult animation. So if you're not a complete prude you'll probably find this as funny as I did. The animation is fantastic and the voice cast (Adam DeVine, River Gallo, Idris Elba, Kathryn Hahn, Bobby Moynihan, Beck Bennett, Fred Armisen, Michelle Buteau, Grey DeLisle, Daran Norris and more) is also very good. Overall I thought this was a lot of fun and I can recommend it.

Nobody 2

Suburban dad Hutch Mansell, a former lethal assassin, is pulled back into his violent past after thwarting a home invasion, setting off a chain of events that unravels secrets about his wife Becca's past and his own.

A worthy and fun sequel, pretty entertaining.

Memories of Murder (2003)

South Korean neo-noir crime thriller film. It's about two detectives who lead an investigation into a string of rapes and murders taking place in a small Korean province in the late 1980s. Rewatched this yesterday and I still think it's great. Highly recommended!

Memoir of a Murderer (2017)

South Korean mystery thriller film. It's about a former serial killer with Alzheimer's who fights to protect his daughter from her psychotic boyfriend. This is very good. I don't think I recognize the lead actor (Sol Kyung-gu) from anything but I'll for sure be on the lookout for his work because he was brilliant in this one. I watched the Director's Cut version by the way, because that's the one that was on Amazon Prime. I've read about the differences between theatrical and this one and they are pretty big (including the fact that the normal version is rated 15 and this one is rated R) and it's also 10 minutes longer and has a different ending but I can only speak on the version I've seen and I thought it was really good and I can highly recommend it.

The Life Of Chuck (2025)

I was looking forward to this one for a while. Didn't know what to expect, and it was worth it definitely. I have some issues with Flanagan's direction sometimes but I still enjoy his work for the most part. A weird mishmash of genres and tones, and non-linear storytelling which kinda works!

It's Not Just You, Murray! (1964)

American comedy crime drama short film. It's about a middle-aged mobster reminiscing about his career without realizing that his success is not all it seems to be. This is one of the student films that Martin Scorsese made. And it feels like something Scorsese made even if you didn't know it beforehand. Some people say this is "among the best student films ever made" and I haven't watched enough student films to judge that but for what it is this is really good. If you want to experience a spoonful of young Scorsese I can highly recommend it.

Club Paradise (1986)

American comedy film. It's about a group of vacationers' attempts to create a luxury resort from a seedy nightclub, and the series of events that take place. Very good cast (Robin Williams, Peter O'Toole, Rick Moranis, Jimmy Cliff, Twiggy, Adolph Caesar, Eugene Levy, Joanna Cassidy, Andrea Martin, Brian Doyle-Murray and more). With a cast like that (and Harold Ramis directing) this should've been a lot better than it eventually turned out to be, but I'd say it's still watchable so even just to see these people acting together so I can recommend it.

Dark Star (1974)

American science fiction comedy film. It's about the crew of a deteriorating spaceship twenty years into their mission to destroy unstable planets that might threaten future colonization of other planets. This is John Carpenter's debut and it's surprisingly good. Of course he made a lot of great movies but the fact that even his very first one is so good is surprising to me. The humour is subtle, but definitely there, the movie looks great for a budget of reportedly only $60k. If you're a fan of John Carpenter's work and haven't seen this one yet I can highly recommend it.

The Show (2020)

British dark fantasy mystery drama film. It's about a detective's search for a stolen artifact that leads him to a haunted town filled with Voodoo gangsters, masked adventurers, Depression-era private eyes and violent chiaroscuro women. This one's very surreal. Good, but weird. Then again, it's from the mind of Alan Moore who also played a pretty interesting character in this. Overall I'd say it's best if you go in completely blind and just experience this movie like that. I can very much recommend it.

PK (2014)

Indian science fiction comedy-drama film. It's about a humanoid alien stranded on Earth after losing his spaceship's remote control and during his search he finds more than what he bargained for. This movie is doing a good job highlighting a lot of the different religions in India, although often through a satirical rather than spiritual lens, because our main character wants to find God solely for the reason of finding his spaceship's remote. It's definitely not subtle about all this God stuff but in the end it boils down to something like "beware of false prophets" and that's a pretty decent moral to live by, even if you're not religious at all. Of course with this being a Bollywood movie there were a few times in this 150 minute movie where people's thoughts were expressed through song, if you know what I mean. But I didn't mind, so I think it's a very good movie and I can recommend it.

Dead in a Week Or Your Money Back 2018
British dark comedy about a suicidal man that takes out a contract on himself only to want to get out of it later.

Found this quite by accident. Glad I did as it was VERY good.

F1 (2025)

American sports drama film. It's about a Formula One driver who comes out of retirement to mentor and team up with a younger driver. This is of course nothing new, there have been countless movies about racing that follow pretty much the same formula. Nevertheless, it's very entertaining. Very good cast (Brad Pitt, Kerry Condon, Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, Sarah Niles and more) with a ton of actual F1 drivers and crew also being in this. Overall this wasn't anything super original but it was a lot of fun, so I can very much recommend it.

Larry Crowne (2011)

American romantic comedy film. It's about a middle-aged man who unexpectedly loses his job and returns to education. Very good cast (Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Bryan Cranston, Taraji P. Henson, Cedric The Entertainer, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Pam Grier, Wilmer Valderrama, Rami Malek, George Takei, Rob Riggle, Randall Park, Maria Canals-Barrera, Sarah Levy, Malcolm Barrett and more). Overall this is of course nothing deep but if you're looking for a fun, lighthearted with a lot of recognizable faces I can recommend it.

Minnie the Moocher (1932)

American animated horror fantasy comedy musical short film. It's about Betty Boop and her puppy boyfriend (?) running away from home, but that night they are scared by a chorus of ghosts singing the title song. Minnie the Moocher is of course Cab Calloway's most famous song, even still today. And this is not much more than that song being performed by some ghosts (obviously voiced by Cab Calloway) and they added that Betty Boop running away from home stuff because she that character was just very famous at that point. You might recognize that fluent, wavy animation from the Cuphead game but this is obviously the real deal. Overall I enjoyed this because I like Cab Calloway and that song of his; and the animation was of course also great, but story-wise there's not really anything here. Still, I can recommend it.

Climb Dance (1988)

French documentary short film. It's about Finnish rally driver Ari Vatanen setting a record time in a highly modified Peugeot 405 Turbo 16 at the 1988 Pikes Peak International Hillclimb. Well, I just bought a new (well, new to me) car today so I wanted to watch something car related but due to the fact that I wasn't home that much today I settled on a short film. This was very good, had surprisingly nice cinematography for a docu short and was overall very entertaining, so I can recommend it.

Coincidentally my new car (a red 2021 Peugeot 508 GT sedan) is kind of a successor to the whole 40something line, so technically also to the car that was driven in this short film.
